2026 Week 6 College Football Best Bets

2026 Week 6 College Football Best Bets

We are on to week six of the college football season, and we are starting to get more information about every team. The SEC has a carousel in the middle of the conference between teams 4 and 13: if you are at home and it is a marquee opponent, you can pull the upset and even blow out your opponent. Are you really that good to blow out your conference foe in that manner? Probably not, unless you are Alabama, Georgia, or Texas.

It’s been revealed the likes of Michigan and Penn State were overhyped all year, and we will continue to see who is atop the conference. Ohio State is, and Oregon slipped up early but has seemed to rebound. Can they continue? How will Indiana fare when they play true competition?

For the ACC, can anyone contend with Miami? Louisville has faded after a loss to Wake Forest. Pitt’s quarterback is out for the year. Who will be the number two?

Who is top dog in the Big 12? It doesn’t seem like it is Texas Tech after they lost so much last year. Can BYU, Utah, or Oklahoma State capitalize?

Who can emerge as the fifth automatic bid among the Group of Six? Will it be Boise State, North Dakota State, New Mexico, or someone else?

Another week means another opportunity to learn about the 2026 season. Here are my 2026 week 6 college football best bets.

#7 Indiana (5-0) vs. Nebraska (5-0)

Nebraska +7.5; O/U 49.5

Over 49.5 (-115)
Indiana -7.5 (-105)

A battle of two unbeatens in the Big Ten, with Indiana’s first true road test of the year (sorry, Rutgers).

Fantasy football

The over is 6-3 when Indiana is a road favorite. Indiana has averaged 38 PPG on the road in Big Ten play since Curt Cignetti took over the program, and, when a road favorite, that increases to 40.6. Josh Hoover had a turnover issue at TCU, but since arriving in Bloomington, he has only one fumble that wasn’t lost on the year. Indiana has just one turnover as a team, and it came against FCS Howard. The Hoosiers also have back-to-back games with a different rusher eclipsing 200 yards on the ground.

Since Matt Rhule joined Nebraska, the Cornhuskers are 0-9 SU and 2-7 ATS against ranked opponents, losing by 16.9 PPG on average. The Cornhuskers allow 33 PPG against ranked foes. This will be the sixth ranked game Nebraska’s Anthony Colandrea has played in, the first since 2024. In the previous five games, Colandrea has thrown five touchdowns and six interceptions, averaging 59.7% completion rate, 6.1 YPA, 3.9% TD rate and 4.7% interception rate. I think this Indiana team will be too much for Nebraska, especially since they have not played anyone yet this year, either. Indiana wins this one and the over cashes.

Sacramento State (1-4) vs. Bowling Green (1-4)

Bowling Green -7.5; O/U 44.5

Bowling Green: 1st Half -4.5 (-118)

Oh, this is a gross play. Probably the most gross play I’ve made all year. But we have seen a trend over the last few weeks: body clock games are real for those traveling from the west coast and kicking off at 9 AM local time. Stanford went to Wake Forest last week and found themselves down 29-3. We hit on another instance two weeks ago, when San Diego State visited Toledo and found themselves down 17-3.

Bowling Green’s schedule finally eased up last week, after their start included two games against Power Four teams and a South Florida team that competed atop the American Conference last year (we will throw out their opening loss to FCS Tarleton State). This resulted in the biggest upset of the week, according to Vegas, when they beat Miami of Ohio on the road. It was also the best game for starting quarterback Jay Kastantin, who continues to make the transition from the Division II level. Last week was his best game at Bowling Green, going 25 for 37 for 305 (8.2 YPA) and two touchdowns. In their two road games this year, Sacramento State trailed by 11 to Eastern Michigan and 32 to Fresno State. Neither game started this early. I’ll take the Falcons to be up and cover the spread at the end of the first half.

Arizona (4-1) vs. West Virginia (3-2)

West Virginia +3; O/U 61.5

1st Half: West Virginia +2.5 (-108)

Same principle as above: fading a west coast team playing a noon kickoff. Arizona has only played in one of these scenarios since Brent Brennan took over in 2024, when Arizona played at Cincinnati last year. They trailed at half 14-10, but ended up winning the game. West Virginia has led at the half in two of three games against Power Four teams this year, with the lone time trailing coming last week, when they gave up a touchdown with two seconds left last week against Iowa State to trail by a touchdown. The Mountaineers are looking for their first win in conference play, and I believe they will come out with a sense of urgency. I’ll take the Mountaineers to cover the first half line.

#21 UCLA (4-0) vs. #13 Oregon (3-1)

Oregon -11.5; O/U 58.5

Oregon -11.5 (-110)

One of the two ranked matchups this week takes place in the Big Ten, with both teams coming off their bye.

UCLA is getting a lot of mention with Indiana in Cignetti’s first year at the program, as they hired his heir apparent from James Madison in Bob Chesney. The Bruins have not been tested yet this year, as their three FBS opponents have a combined record of 4-8 against FBS opponents, removing their loss to UCLA. Indiana had a similar scenario in Cignett’s first year: a weaker schedule up until their first ranked game at Ohio State. It was a rude wake up call for the Hoosiers that day, losing 38-15. Oregon lost Dante Moore to USC due to a dirty hit, but his backup, Dylan Raiola, is the best in the country and entered Eugene with two years of starting experience at Nebraska. He has much more talent on his roster, and a week to prepare with the starters. I believe Oregon rolls in this one.

Outright Underdogs (.5 units)

Week 5: 0-2 (-1.00 Units)
YTD: 2-13 (-3.85 Units)
West Virginia vs. Arizona +140

I hit on this game above, but will take the home underdog that is desperate for their first conference win.

Texas A&M @ #14 Missouri +145

Missouri coming down off a major high, dismantling Florida at home last week. The tigers could be looking ahead to another ranked matchup next week when they travel to Oxford. Give me the Aggies to get back on track.
