Bio
Xavier Hutchinson attended Bartram Trail High School in St. Johns, Florida. As a senior, he had 74 receptions for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was a two-star prospect and had to take the JUCO route out of high school. Hutchinson spent two years at Blinn Junior College in Texas where he caught 47 passes for 652 yards as a sophomore. That was enough to catch the attention of some FBS schools, including Oklahoma, USF, Illinois, Nebraska, and others. Hutchinson signed on with Iowa State for the 2020 season where he started 12 games in his first season. He led the Big 12 with 64 receptions in which he took for 771 yards and four touchdowns. He was honored with the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year award first-team All-Big 12 recognition.
Hutchinson built on that performance and hauled in an Iowa State record 83 receptions for 987 yards and five scores in 2021. He again improved his stat line in 2022, amassing 1,171 yards and six touchdowns on a whopping 107 receptions. It was enough to earn first-team All-American and his third first-team all-conference.

Bottom Line:
Xavier Hutchinson has both the size and versatility to play both outside and in the slot. His lateral agility and quickness allow him to be a quality route runner as well as a threat after the catch. He may not be a burner, but his size and strong hands make him a reliable target in one-on-one contested situations. Despite starting his college career at the JUCO level, Hutchinson enters the NFL Draft with one of the more productive resumes among the 2023 wide receiver class. He will likely hear his name in the middle rounds and is atop the list of sleepers to consider in the third round of dynasty rookie drafts.
