Wild Card Sunday DraftKings Strategy

Wild Card Weekend Sunday Slate Draftkings Strategy

Wild Card weekend is here and DraftKings has broken the weekend down into several slates. I’ll be diving into my thoughts and favorite plays for the Sunday only slate. The less games on the slate the more perfect you have to be especially in larger field tournaments. Ownership gets condensed on smaller slates and missing out on a high scoring player or two will sink you much quicker. Let’s get into the matchups, my favorite plays and some ways to get different.

PIT @ BUF
Spread: BUF -9.5
Total: 33.5

Breakdown

The weather looks to be a serious issue in this one. There will be snow and it will be very windy. Sustained winds of 20mph with gusts up to 40mph. Obviously not optimal conditions for scoring. With the two other games on the slate being in a dome with totals over 50, this game shouldn’t be a priority. It’s fine to take a piece or two and players in this game will be lower owned but stacking this game is probably getting too cute.

Plays/Stacks

Josh Allen ($8k) will be very low owned and with his rushing ability and strong arm could still be viable. As stated the overall upside of this game is capped so I don’t live stacking him but if I were to do so it would be with one of the TEs. They likely go 12 personnel (2 TEs) often with no Gabe Davis and on a weak TE slate they could be viable even as one off plays.

Fantasy football

James Cook ($6.6k) will likely be the highest owned player in thisbone but still not crazy. He’ll get plenty of work in these conditions at an affordable price.

Khalil Shakir ($3.4k) is a cheap piece that can be used in this game. The conditions will cause a lot of short passes and Shakir has some ability after the catch. At this price he doesn’t need to do much.

Najee Harris ($5.4k) will get a ton of work and is worth a stab. Pairing him with the Steelers defense doesn’t sound like a terrible idea but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people go that route when playing him. Both defenses are obviously in play here.

My Favorite Stack

Allen to Knox

GB @ DAL
Spread: DAL -7.5
Total: 50.5

Breakdown

This game should be interesting. I can see the Packers covering this spread but I could also see the Cowboys stomping them. I’ll make lineups with both scenarios in mind. There are a lot of options in this game and I don’t think it’s a bad idea if you wanted to over stack it.

Fantasy football

Plays/Stacks

Dak Prescott ($7.6k) will be the highest owned on the slate but also has the highest ceiling projection. Obviously pairing him with Ceedee Lamb ($9k) is the optimal strategy but it is expensive. I think you can just use the two of them as your Dallas exposure and it could payoff while allowing you to play some other plays on the slate. Playing Lamb by himself as your lone Dallas piece could make sense. We’ve seen him get the bulk of their production on numerous occasions.

Double and even triple stacks are in play as well pairing Dak with Cooks ($4.9k) and Ferguson ($4.7k) which could be different leaving Lamb out. I certainly think you could pair Dak with all three of them as well. On short slates we tend to see random cheap WRs pay off so Gallup ($3.1k) and Tolbert ($3k) could be sprinkled in for larger field tournaments.

Tony Pollard ($6.1k) is probably the highest owned RB on the slate and you can make a case for him being your lone exposure to Dallas. If he scores twice and the rest of the Cowboys production is spreading out it pays off. I also like pairing him with the Dallas defense and then focusing the rest of my lineup on the late game.

Jordan Love ($6.3k) will be lower owned and could be a great play. He’s blot afraid to throw the ball downfield and it could pay off against this aggressive defense. I would pair him with at least two pass catchers and the bulk of them are pretty cheap. Jayden Reed ($5.7k) is my favorite and I’ll use him with Love and as a stand alone. Doubs ($5.4k) will go overlooked and could be 10% owned on a three game slate. Dontayvion Wicks ($4.8k) has looked good and could be played as well. Keep an eye on Christian Watson‘s status as well. I’m avoiding the TEs and see them eating into each other too much.

Aaron Jones ($6.3k) is in a great spot especially if Dillon misses this game. You can use him as your lone GB piece or he even makes sense in Love stacks.

My Favorite Stack

Love to Aaron Jones and Reed
Lamb as the bring back
4.54k avg remaining salary

Super Stack

Dak to Cooks and Ferguson
Jones and Reed as the bring back
5.2k avg remaining salary

LAR @ DET
Spread: DET -3
Total: 51.5

Breakdown

The passing game from both sides of this game look to be in great spots. These two teams have allowed the most and 2nd most passing yards over the last six weeks and are very good at defending the run. I’ll be looking to get as many pass catchers as possible in this one. The only issue with this game is it can get expensive quickly. If you like the previous game more it could make sense to play the defenses. With a ton of passing attempts these defenses will have plenty of opportunities for sacks and interceptions.

Plays/Stacks

Jared Goff ($6.2k) is a completely different player at home averaging 21.4 points compared to 14.7 points on the road. Amon Ra(8k) is the obvious choice to pair with him. Josh Reynolds ($3.8k) could get some extra action and Jameson Williams ($3.5k) is a big play threat. Pairing the latter two with Goff is a great salary saver and will be lower owned. Jahmyr Gibbs ($6.5k) can even be thrown in with his pass catching ability. Sam LaPorta might even be able to go in this one and will be very low owned with the injury concerns.

Kyren Williams ($7.3k) will be highly owned. His upside could be capped with how good this Lions defense is defending the run but his workload is tremendous and he gets a ton of goaline work.

Matthew Stafford (6.5k) has thrown multiple TDs in four of his last five games. His receivers are elite. Puka Nacua ($7.2k) has been great and I’ll definitely use him but Cooper Kupp ($7.5k) will be lower owned and I love him in this spot. Demarcus Robinson ($3.6k) is a great salary saver but will likely be the highest owned WR on the slate.

Favorite Stack

Goff to Amon Ra and Jameson
Kupp and Robinson bring backs
5.3k avg remaining salary
