START/SIT ASSIST | TRADE CALCULATOR
Its Week 5 of the NFL season already, for many of us this season has been full of hard start and sit decisions. I have been here all along hopefully helping guide you to a few solid starts and helped you avoid some duds. This week is no different I am here to discuss a few good start options. Along with some players to avoid!
Quarterback Start and Sit
Start: Kirk Cousins- Minnesota Vikings
So far this season Kirk Cousins has looked very solid as a fantasy asset. He is currently QB6 and averaging over 24 points per game. This is more than guys like Josh Allen and Justin Herbert. This week he has a juicy matchup against the division rival Detroit Lions. PFF has this as the easiest matchup this week for quarterbacks. I expect Kirk Cousins to exploit the injured Lions secondary this week. While providing a top 12 finish in fantasy formats making him a must start.
Sit: Baker Mayfield- Cleveland Browns
This season has not been to kind to Baker Mayfield so far, he is currently QB22 in fantasy formats. He is only averaging 16.37 points per game. As we head into Week 5 things do not get any better for him. Joey Bosa and the Los Angeles Chargers play host to the Browns. Last week we saw the Chargers slow down the high powered Raiders passing offense. Along with this they are currently fourth best against quarterback allowing only 15 points per game. I expect the Browns to try and establish the run this week, this will limit Bakers upside. He will most likely finish outside the top 24 this week.
Running Back Start and Sit
Start: Darrell Henderson- Los Angeles Rams
I know its the dreaded Thursday night start! However Darrell Henderson has one of the best matchups this week. The Rams face off against the Seahawks who are averaging over 33 PPR points to the running back position right now. Darrell Henderson is currently RB21 in PPR formats, however averaging 16.5 points per game. This mark is good enough for RB10 on a per game basis. I expect Henderson to gash the Seahawks this week, along with finding the end-zone while producing top 12 numbers. Making him a must start in your lineups.
Sit: Miles Sanders- Philadelphia Eagles
With what most thought could be a solid year for Miles Sanders has turned into a very rough start. Currently RB33 only averaging 10 PPR points a game, this is less than ideal. The emergence of Kenny Gainwell is not helping his case either. THis week the Eagles draw the Carolina Panthers who rank 4th best against running backs in points allowed. They average only 13.2 PPR points to the position on average right now. With all of the factors involved I am comfortable sitting Miles Sanders this week, I expect him to finish as a RB3 this week.
Wide Receiver Start and Sit
Start: Corey Davis- New York Jets
Corey Davis is currently a top 24 wide receiver in PPR even with a few bad weeks sprinkled in. Last week he blew up for 21 PPR points, while scoring a touchdown and producing over 100 yards receiving. The Jets offense looked like it was starting to hit its stride. This week they draw the Atlanta Falcons average over 33 PPR points per game to wide receivers. I expect Corey davis to see a decent target share, along with the big play upside targets. I anticipate Davis to produce a top 24 finish this week making him a must start.
Sit: Allen Robinson- Chicago Bears
We will see week two of Justin Fields this week, however we will still continue to see the poor performances from Allen Robinson. Last week we saw Darnell Mooney explode, he showed his ability to separate and get wide open. I believe we will see this again this week as the Raiders are only averaging 33 points to the wide receiver position per game currently. Last week the Raiders lost a few players to injury in the secondary, this will allow for Mooney to have the easier coverage. I anticipate a major of targets to go his way do to this. The lack of target volume Robinson will see is why he is a sit for me this week.
Tight End Start and Sit
Start: Mike Gesicki – Miami Dolphins
What a turn around for Mike Gesicki, going from a goose egg to over 17 PPR points last week. This week the Dolphins draw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who rank third worst against tight ends. They average over 17 PPR points a game to the position. With Jacoby Brissett at the helm Mike Gesicki has seen an up tick in targets and he has delivered on them. He has seen 18 targets over the past two weeks which he turned into 143 yards and a touchdown. He has 35.3 PPR points over the past two weeks making him TE3 over that span. I expect a TE1 finish this week making him a must start.
Sit: Robert Tonyan- Green Bay Packers
The regression has hit for Robert Tonyan and it has hit hard so far. He is currently TE29 while only averaging 5.4 PPR points per game. The Packers have looked else where in the red zone this season and it has hurt Tonyan. This week the Packers face a much improved Bengals defense who ranks fifth against tight ends. They only allow 7.5 PPR points per week to the position. The matchup along with his already unproductive season makes him a must sit for me in week 5.
