This weekly series looks at two consensuses ranked players outside of the top-24 that I am the highest on and why. Each week, I will break down the case for both players, giving my view as to why they are strong flex spot additions. I will compare where they are ranked, and give my own ranking for comparison. Here are our Week 3 sleeper candidates!
Week 3 RB Sleeper
Phillip Lindsay – Consensus Ranking: 27, My Ranking: 19
Lindsay is averaging 12 rushes and four catches in his first two games this year. Green Bay’s defense is giving up the fourth-worst yards per rushing attempt in the league. In addition, Lindsay is capable of creating his own yards regardless of blocking. He’s also a very capable pass catcher. With the Green Bay offense showing signs of life, I expect a negative game script to show up for the Denver Broncos. Although Lindsay has yet to find the end zone this year, I don’t expect that trend to continue forever.
Week 3 WR Sleeper
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown – Consensus Ranking: 28, My Ranking: 8
Hollywood started off his NFL career with a bang. His first reception went for a 47-yard touchdown. It was a short crossing route that he took to the house with a brilliant run after the catch. While he only played 14 snaps (18%) in Week 1, he saw a dramatic increase in Week 2 (50 snaps, 65%). In Week 2, Brown had one less target than snaps compared to Week 1 (13 for those playing along at home). Hollywood is the most dynamic wide receiver on this offense. The Kansas City defense has been prone to giving up yards in bunches to dynamic wide receivers (D.J. Chark Week 1). Because both offenses have been potent this year so far, I expect this game to be a shootout. Due to this, it’s important to start anyone in the match-up.
