Week One is in the books, hopefully you came out victorious. If not remember it is a long season and were only one week in. The waiver wire was loaded this week with players like Elijah Mitchell, Tim Patrick, KJ Osborn and David Njoku. Possibly you were able to land one of these prized players. It is now time to make those tough start and sit decisions again. Using the PFF metric again this week.  Let’s take a look at who we should be trying to squeeze into our starting lineups and who we should leave on the pine.

Start and Sit Quarterbacks

Start -Justin Herbert (Los Angeles Chargers)

Week one was not his best performance by any means. He did play well against a tough Washington defense. He threw for over 300 yards along with one touchdown and one interception. As week two approaches he has a very good matchup in the Dallas Cowboys. They just gave up over 32 fantasy points to Tom Brady in week one.  Even though he seems like a logical answer to start him, I expect him to have QB1 potential in what should be a shoot out style game.

Sit-Carson Wentz (Indianapolis Colts)

As week one approached we were unsure if Carson wentz would be a go. He was able to start, he produced over 18 fantasy points. He threw for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns. The passing offense was far from prolific, however the Colts continued to show off the impressive run game. This week the Colts will need to lean on the run game again. The Los Angeles Rams are coming to town. This is all bad news for Carson Wentz, the Rams let up only 14 fantasy points to Andy Dalton in week one. I expect Carson wentz to struggle and be a must sit in any format this week.

Start and Sit Running Backs

Start – Javonte Williams (Denver Broncos)

Week one we saw a split backfield like most thought we would. Both backs saw over 10 carries, Javonte Williams bested Melvin Gordon 14 to 11. They both were equally effective as they averaged close to 4 yards a carry. This was until Melvin Gordon busted a 70 yard touchdown run which made him the top fantasy option in week one. Traveling to Jacksonville makes for a great matchup this week. The Jaguars just gave up 36.4 points to running backs in week one 3rd most in the NFL. I expect the Broncos to get up early in this game and then go to work on the ground. There should be good volume here for Javonte Williams.I expect a low end RB1 finish is possible, making him a must start in most formats.

Sit- Myles Gaskin (Miami Dolphins)

In week one Gaskin only rushed nine times for 49 yards, while seeing 5 targets in which he took for 27 yards. This was good enough for an RB21 finish with 12.6 ppr points. Not a terrible outing for a player you most likely expect to be your RB2. However The Buffalo Bills are  much improved on the front four defensively. They only allowed 5.9 fantasy points to rookie heartthrob Najee Harris. Harris had no time to get going as the Bills were ripping off blocks and meeting him at the exchange point. I expect the Dolphins to get behind early and need to use WIll fuller, Jaylen Waddle and Devante Parker to keep up with the BIlls offense who is looking to bounce back after a poor performance in week one. Gaskin is a must Sit this week unless absolutely necessary.

Start and Sit Wide Receivers

Start-  Mike Williams (Los Angeles Chargers)

It has arrived the breakout has begun folks. Mike Williams is no longer a field stretcher, he saw 12 targets in week all over the field. He was only one target off team leader Keenan Allen. He took those targets and produced 8 catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. This was good enough for 22.2 ppr points and a WR14 finish. This week he faces off against the Dallas Cowboys who just gave up 59.6 points to the wide receiver position on thursday night. I expect this game to be a high scoring affair that will produce many top fantasy options this week. With this Mike Williams is a must start as he has WR1 upside this week with a WR2 floor.

Sit – Corey Davis (New York Jets)

I know Corey Davis just finished with over 25 ppr points and top 5 last week. However he faced Jaycee Horn who is a rookie and Donte Jackson. This week will face a tougher matchup against the Patriots in ether Jc Jackson or Jaylen Mills.Bill Belichick lives to ruin rookie quarterbacks days, so he also has that working against him. I do not expect a top 12 finish this week from Corey Davis. If lucky he may touch the WR2 range, however he has a tremendously low floor and Stephon Gilmore could shut him out completely. He is a must sit if you have any other option this week.

Start and Sit Tight Ends

Start- Blake Jarwin (Dallas Cowboys)

Week one we saw a pretty even split between Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz, which ended in Schultz being the top fantasy option. However with the loss of Michael Gallup the Cowboys may need to look to both tight ends to help in the passing game. Blake Jarwin tends to line up off the line more than Schultz so I could see his usage increase with the Gallup loss. This week against the Chargers I expect a ton of points to be scored between both teams. Last week the Chargers gave up 12 fantasy points up to Logan Thomas. As a result I expect the Cowboys to target Jarwin more this week. With this increased involvement I can see him produce TE1 numbers. This makes him a must start for me this week.

Fantasy football

Sit- Kyle Pitts (Atlanta Falcons)

I know you drafted him high and you feel the need to start him, however you should try not to this week. Kyle Pitts produced 7.1 ppr points in week one, not even a full point ahead of Hayden Hurst. This was against a middle of the road defense in the Philadelphia Eagles. This week the Falcons have to compete with a top unit in Tampa Bay. With how inefficient the Falcons offense looked last week I am worried about all Fantasy options in this offense this week. Pitts is still a rookie tight end learning the game on what appears to be a terrible offense. Until both of these things get worked out its best to let Kyle Pitts ride the bench in favor of more favorable matchups.
