This weekly series looks at two fantasy sleepers outside of the consensus top-24 that I am the highest on and why. I will break down the case for both players, giving my view as to what makes them strong flex spot starts. Also, I will compare where they are ranked, and give my own ranking for comparison. Without any further ado, let’s get to the Week 14 sleeper candidates!

Week 14 Sleeper RB

Benny Snell, Jr. — Consensus Rank: 27 My Rank: 22

Snell has an excellent opportunity with fellow RB James Conner sidelined for the third straight game with a shoulder injury. In his opportunities the last two games, Snell averaged 18 carries for 80 yards and has scored one touchdown. This week, Snell faces Arizona. Their defense is giving up the 10th most points to fantasy RBs on the season. Pittsburgh is on their third string QB and is also short star WR JuJu Smith-Schuster. Due to this fact, it’s reasonable to expect a heavy dose of the rushing attack and Snell will lead the charge. Head Coach Mike Tomlin has stayed true to his use of a lead back and not much work for the others. Especially if my team was an underdog, I would be willing to play Snell in my flex spot.

Week 14 Sleeper WR

D.K. MetcalfConsensus Rank: 32 My Rank: 21

Metcalf has developed from a deep threat early in his rookie season into a dependable possession WR. Over the last four games, Metcalf has averaged 8 targets, 5 receptions for 76 yards. This calculates to 9.5 yards per target. That number is down a full yard from the first six weeks of the season. Due to this fact, his performance against the LA Rams earlier in the season (week 5) is doubtful to repeat itself. The Rams are a middle of the road defense against fantasy WRs. All of these factors combine into Metcalf being a strong flex play for any team this week.
