This weekly series looks at two fantasy sleepers outside of the consensus top-24 that I am the highest on and why. I will break down the case for both players, giving my view as to what makes them strong flex spot starts. Also, I will compare where they are ranked, and give my own ranking for comparison. Without further ado, here are our Week 11 sleeper candidates!
Week 11 Sleeper RB
Miles Sanders – Consensus Rank: 27 My Rank: 21
A rookie RB in a committee against one of the league’s best defenses seems like a terrible idea. The last two weeks, the Patriots have looked very beatable on the ground. The Browns and Ravens both gashed the defense with big plays in the run game. With Darren Sproles heading to IR and Jordan Howard banged up, the Eagles brought in a familiar face in Jay Ajayi. This presents Sanders with a prime opportunity. If the Eagles have any shot in this one it’s to keep Tom Brady on the sidelines and Sanders has shown a propensity to be adept in the passing game. The Patriots love to blitz, and the blitz can be beaten by screens and draws, two plays that Sanders has excelled at this year. Especially if you’re an underdog, Sanders presents an interesting home-run swing to plug into your flex spot.
Week 11 Sleeper WR
Marquise Brown – Consensus Rank: 25 My Rank: 17
Looking at box scores will create some doubt about this call. Hollywood is coming off his second-lowest snap percentage of the year with just 38% last week. However, his two lowest totals (Week 1, 18% and last week) were in absolute boat-races of the Ravens opponents. Any game that’s been within three scores, Brown has seen at least a 46% snap count. This week the Ravens play Houston. They are another team with a potent offense that should keep the game close. What the Texans lack is a competent secondary. Hollywood will be open like your local 7-11, all day long. To me, Brown is a high-end WR2 and would look excellent in either the WR slot or Flex this week.
