Week 10 Thursday Night Showdown on Draftkings
Panthers vs Bears Draftkings Showdown
Showdown Captain mode is a DraftKings tournament where you have $50,000 to create a lineup using 6 players from a standalone single game. One of those players will be your captain. The captain costs 1.5 times their salary and will accumulate 1.5 times the points. As with every slate, GAME THEORY IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. Even more so in Showdown, you want your lineup to tell a story of how the game will go. There are a lot of options based on how you see the game going but ALWAYS make sure there’s correlation between your players.
Panthers @ Bears
Spread: CHI -3
Over/Under: 38.5
Injuries to Monitor
Justin Fields has been practicing on a limited basis with the thumb injury that has kept him out for three games. He is doubtful to play.
Khalil Herbert is eligible to return from IR and has been practicing.
DJ Chark is dealing with an elbow injury and is doubtful for this game.
Laviska Shenault has missed the last three games with a knee injury and will be out.
Breakdown
This game is gross. You can set your lineups and just check in the morning if you want to.
The 1-7 Panthers head to Chicago to face the 2-7 Bears. Both teams are underachieving and this could potentially be a close game. The total is low so we probably won’t be fireworks.
Under Bagent the Bears have averaged 194.7 passing yards per game compared to 228.6 in Fields’ healthy games. Defensively the Bears have been a mess against the pass. They’ve allowed the 5th most passing yards per game. They’ve been very good against the run allowing the 4th least rushing yards per game this year and the least rush yards per game over the last three weeks.
The Panthers have only scored 20 or more points twice this year. They’re bottom ten in both rushing a d passing yards per game. Defensively they are top 5 in least passing yards allowed per game but have allowed the 5th most rushing yards per game.
There’s not a lot of value on the slate and there’s some volatility up top. For that reason a lot of the cheaper plays could get there without doing much. Kickers and defenses continue to pay off on these prime time games. They’re definitely in play in this one. You could potentially even play all four together. That’s how ugly this game could be. I’ll play some Herbert and Kmet at captain for the value. Thielen would be my only pay up option. These defenses have opposite strengths so I’m targeting Bears runing game and Panthers passing game.
Captain/Flex
Adam Thielen $17,700/$11,800
Thielen and the Panthers offense as a whole were disappointing last week but otherwise has been great. He had six targets last week which was his lowest total since Week 1. He has a 26% target share on the year. The Bears have allowed the 4th most points to slot WRs. Thielen has played 76% of his snaps from the slot. It does get ugly quick from a price standpoint with Thielen at captain.
Cole Kmet $9,900/$6,600
Kmet has been on a tear the last two weeks. He has 18 targets and has caught 16 of them. He was productive with Fields as well but if Bagent is starting he’s the clear first look for this offense. Regardless of who’s under center Kmet is one of the best plays in this game especially considering his price and the lack of value on this slate.
Chuba Hubbard $12,000/$8,000
Hubbard has taken over the lead in this backfield. Back to back games with at least fifteen carries. He added another four catches last week. The Bears have allowed the 3rd most receptions to opposing RBs and have allowed 152 more receiving yards than any other team.
Khalil Herbert $6,300/$4,200
If Herbert is back I’m playing him. In the two games before injury he had a combined 28 carries and 179 yards. He’s averaged over five yards per carry. The work he gets at this price are a nice combo.

The Rest
DJ Moore $10,600
Moore hasn’t been great with Bagent but he’s still incredibly talented and still has over a 20% target share. Carolina has been good against opposing WRs so I think it slightly caps Moore’s upside which will keep him out of the captain spot for me.
Bryce Young $9,800
Three interceptions crippled the Colts last week but Bryce had only thrown two picks in his previous five games. He’s averaged 14.9 DraftKings points over his last four games. While that’s not incredible for a QB it could be more than enough to be optimal in this game. He also has at least four rush attempts in back to back games which helps add a little bit of a floor.
Tyson Bagent $9,200
Bagent hasn’t been great but has averaged 15.3 DraftKings points in his three starts. He’s averaged 31 rushing yards in those three games. He’s thrown for at least 220 yards in back to back games and threw for two TDs last week.
Darnell Mooney $7,400
Mooney has actually been more productive with Bagent. He had five catches, 82 yards on six targets last week all of which were season highs. He can get there on limited catches with his big play upside. He’s averaging 15.4 yards per reception.
Miles Sanders $5,200
Sanders seems to have fallen to the backup role. He still had nine touches last week. Nine touches against the Bears defense could actually result in a good game. At this price point guaranteed touches are hard to come by. Sanders should also be lower owned.
D’Onta Foreman $8,600
He’s just too expensive considering Herbert will return. Because of that he’s likely extremely low owned. He should still see some touches and has been serviceable. It’s not outside the realm of possibility that he still ends up a good play but I won’t have much if him.
Hayden Hurst $4,800
Hurst had four targets last week which was his highest total since Week 1. He also had a season high 54 yards. It hasn’t been great for Hurst but on a one game slate he’s involved enough to sprinkle in lineups.
Roschon Johnson $3,600
This backfield is gonna be crowded with Herbert back. Roschon gets there more when the Bears are trailing. If you’re building lineups with a Panthers win in mind he could make more sense.
Jonathan Mingo $2,800
Mingo hasn’t really been heavily involved but has had a few games that would pay off this salary. He’s averaging 5.4 targets per game. He’s had at least three catches in four of seven games. Mingo is 2nd on the team in targets and receptions and should get more work with Chark out.
Tommy Tremble $2,400
Tremble has two catches in each of his last three games. He’s scored two TDs in his last four games. Two catches and a TD would absolutely pay off this salary but he only has eight catches on the season.
Terrace Marshall $400
With Chark out, Marshall will be forced into some playing time. With a lack of value on the slate he becomes a pretty good price per dollar play.
