Bio
Tyler Goodson was a natural from a young age. He was dominant at North Gwinnett High School, rushing for over 1,200 yards as a freshman. He helped win a state title in his junior season with 1,437 yards and 25 touchdowns. As a three-star prospect, Goodson thwarted offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, and Wake Forest to commit to the Iowa Hawkeyes before his senior season. That year, he rushed for 1,180 yards and 25 touchdowns and was named the Georgia Player of the Year. His success continued at Iowa where he became the first Hawkeyes true freshman to lead the team in rushing yards. He took 134 carries for 638 yards and five touchdowns. He also was a factor in the passing game with 24 receptions and 166 receiving yards.
In the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Goodson topped 100 yards rushing in four of eight games. He finished the year with 762 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 143 carries with another 152 yards coming on 15 receptions. He was named a first-team All-Big Ten selection for his performance. For the third-straight season, Goodson led Iowa in rushing in 2021. He took 256 carries for 1,151 yards and six touchdowns. As a receiver, he brought in 31 balls for 247 yards and another score. He sat out the team’s bowl game to begin preparations for the NFL Draft.

Bottom Line:
Tyler Goodson is a good all-around athlete with 4.42 speed and above average burst and agility. He may not possess the traits of a dominant between the tackles runner, but he showed he can handle a heavy workload while also bringing value to the passing game. He ran routes from the backfield, the slot, and out wide. He is best in space where he can take advantage of his impressive ability to quickly change direction without losing speed. Goodson projects as a late day three pick who will be a change-of-pace, third-down specialist in the NFL. He should be on the dynasty radar beginning in the middle of round three in rookie drafts.
