TreVeyon Henderson Bio

TreVeyon Henderson was a five-star recruit out of Hopewell High School in Virginia. There, he was the 2019-2020 Gatorade Football Player of the Year for the state of Virginia after amassing more than 2,400 yards and 45 touchdowns as a junior. The COVID-19 pandemic cost him his senior season but he finished his career with over 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. Henderson was one of the top recruits in the 2021 class, ultimately landing with Ohio State over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, and others.

Henderson made an immediate impact at the collegiate level. It only took him until game three to break Archie Griffin’s Ohio State single-game rushing record. He started 11 of 13 games and ran for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns on 183 carries. He added another 316 yards on 27 receptions. It was enough to earn freshman All-American honors and second-team All-Big-10.

A broken foot limited him to just eight games as a sophomore, but Henderson ran for 571 yards and six touchdowns on 107 carries in those eight games. Henderson returned to play 10 games in 2023, carrying 156 times for 926 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding another 229 yards through the air on 19 receptions. He was awarded first-team All-Big-10 after the season.

Henderson was widely considered one of, if not the, top running back in the 2024 NFL Draft class before opting to return to Ohio State for another season. At the same time, fellow stat runner Quinshon Judkins joined the Buckeyes via the transfer portal to create a lethal two-headed backfield.

While sharing carries, Henderson averaged a career high 7.0 yards per attempt, rushing 108 times for 751 yards and six scores. In the passing game, he caught 19 balls for 135 yards.

NFL Draft & Dynasty Outlook:

TreVeyon Henderson is a patient runner who runs with good vision, excellent change-of-direction ability, and a dangerous combination of speed and power. He dominates between the tackles but has the juice to bounce it outside and turn the corner as well. Henderson won’t run away from NFL speed, but he’s explosive enough to create chunk plays. He’s tough to bring down in the open field as he can force missed tackles via power and strength or quickness and agility.

In the passing game, Henderson wasn’t asked to do a whole lot at Ohio State. He is a serviceable pass catcher out of the backfield but has a limited route tree and won’t be mistaken for a true playmaker as a receiver. He did display considerable improvement as a pass protector in his senior season which bodes well for carving out a three-down role at the next level.

In the NFL, Henderson projects as a team’s No. 1 back who will fit any rushing scheme and can handle a full workload. It will be interesting to see how much a team asks him to play on passing downs. That will go a long way to determining his range of outcomes as a fantasy asset. My guess is he will be used in a Bears David Montgomery-like role that is mostly limited to first and second-down action, but can give us a couple 40-catch seasons along the way.

Henderson is one of the best runners in what is shaping up to be an elite 2025 running back class. On draft weekend, it’s likely we’ll see Henderson come off the board some time on day two. In dynasty, he is one of the safest bets in rookie drafts with the upside to develop into a top-12 talent.
