Miles Sanders, Eagles
Coming into the NFL Draft, many wondered what the Eagles would do with their treasure chest full of picks. Not only did they not select a running back with any of their selections but instead chose to bolster their air attack by trading for AJ Brown. What does this mean for Miles Sanders? It means that he is a cheaper version of JK Dobbins. Last year, Sanders sported an impressive 5.5 yards per carry and has a career YPC of 5.1. He is in a run-heavy offense and, at the age of 25, seemingly the only running back on the roster with three-down capabilities. Assuming his touchdowns go up (from 0 last year) I expect you will be satisfied buying low.
What to expect to pay: A mid-2nd round pick
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Chiefs
I know, I know—how many times are we going to keep doing this? Answer—buy the major dip on a player with first round draft capital in a high powered offense. CEH boasts a solid 4.4 YPC in his two seasons, but this isn’t where I see the fantasy relevance going into 2022 (especially with the addition of Rojo). Where CEH has the ability to to carve out a major role is within the passing game. CEH came out of LSU with a standout ability to catch the ball in space and make defenders miss. Last year he only had 23 targets and I believe the Chiefs intend to get him more involved with their vacated 257 targets.
What to expect to pay: An early-to-mid 2nd-rounder
Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys
Zeke has had a legendary career. He has finished as a RB1 five times (only season he missed RB1 status was due to suspension), and has never missed a game due to injury. After this past season playing through a PCL tear, many in the dynasty community are down on him going into 2022. This is where I suggest you buy the dip. With the departure of Amari Cooper, the injury to Michael Gallup, and question marks surrounding the offense, I foresee a lot of rushing touchdowns in Zeke’s future. He is due a lot of money this season which means the Cowboys will most likely get their money’s worth. With 11 million in dead cap the following year you may just get a discounted RB1 for two years which is well worth the price. Buy the dip.
