Jacksonville Jaguars Offense
Play Caller: Doug Pederson
The Jaguars conducted several interviews with potential first-year head coaches Byron Leftwich, Nathaniel Hackett, and Matt Eberflus, but made the decision to go with Doug Pederson, who led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl win back in 2017. Pederson will now get the chance to work with Trevor Lawrence, the number one overall draft pick from a season ago. Pederson will look to simplify things for Lawrence by using concepts and schemes that allow him to play faster and to his strengths.
The Jaguars will look to establish the run early and often this season with Travis Etienne and James Robinson. Etienne missed his entire rookie season due to a Lisfranc injury that occurred during a preseason contest last year. Robinson is coming off a torn Achilles that he suffered late last season. Both players should play a pivotal role this upcoming season with Etienne playing a bigger role in the passing game and Robinson taking on goal line and short yardage situations. Etienne will be the lead back in this offense, but Robinson has been productive over his two seasons in the NFL and can take on RB1 volume should Etienne miss any time this season.
As for the passing game, it’s going to look a lot different in 2022 than it did last season. The Jaguars have added Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram, who will all plug into the starting lineup alongside Marvin Jones Jr, who led the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns last season. This group of pass-catchers has a combined 24 years of experience, which bodes well for Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars have moved on from D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault, who are now in Detroit and Carolina, respectively.

“Trevor Lawrence, more than any other player, deserves a mulligan”
QB Room
#16 Trevor Lawrence
Age: 22 HT: 6’6 WT: 213 College: Clemson Draft: RD1 Pick 1
Contract: 3 years / $9,198,372 per year (20th at position) – Expires 2025 – 5th year option available
Trevor Lawrence, more than any other player, deserves a mulligan after a tumultuous rookie season that never had a chance under Urban Meyer. Lawrence was touted as a generational prospect coming out of Clemson, where he won a National Championship his freshman year and broke the school record for career wins in just three seasons. With a revamped wide receiver room, an upgrade at the tight end position, and a healthy running back room, I have no doubt that Trevor Lawrence makes a big leap in year two under the tutelage of Doug Pederson.
2022 Fantasy Outlook:
Passing: 592 Attempts, 62.8% Comp Rate, 3,847 Yards (6.5 YPA), 25 Touchdowns (4.2%)
Rushing: 77 Attempts, 4.5 YPC, 347 Yards, 3 Touchdowns

RB Room
#1 Travis Etienne Jr.
Age: 23 HT: 5’10 WT: 215 College: Clemson Draft: RD1 Pick 25
Contract: 3 years / $3,224,528 per year (21st at position) – Expires 2025 – 5th year option available
Travis Etienne missed his rookie season due to a Lisfranc injury but appears to be ready to go to start the 2022 season. During his four seasons at Clemson, Etienne ran for 4,952 yards and 70 touchdowns, while also snagging 102 receptions for another 1,155 yards and eight touchdowns. He has three-down versatility and a nose for the endzone. If Etienne can stay healthy and be the same player he was as a prospect, this offense can be exciting for years to come. He has RB1 upside and his ability as both a runner and pass-catcher makes him worth the price tag.
2022 Fantasy Outlook:
Receiving: 13% Target Share, 77 Targets, 58 Receptions, 461 yards (7.9 YPR), 3 Touchdowns
Rushing: 43% Rush Share, 184 Attempts, 829 Yards (4.5 YPC), 6 Touchdowns
#25 James Robinson
Age: 24 HT: 5’9 WT: 219 College: Illinois St Draft: UDFA
Contract: 1 year / $763,333 per year (181st at position) – Expires 2023
James Robinson has been impressive over his first two seasons in the NFL after going undrafted in 2020. He’s amassed 404 carries for 1,837 yards (4.5 ypc) and 15 touchdowns on the ground, while contributing 80 receptions for 566 yards and another three scores in the passing game. He’s done everything this franchise has asked him to do and done it at a level very few expected. He’s a blue-collar player that will continue to have a role in this offense.
2022 Fantasy Outlook:
Receiving: 5% Target Share, 30 Targets, 21 Receptions, 141 yards (6.7 YPR), 1 Touchdown
Rushing: 32% Rush Share, 137 Attempts, 589 Yards (4.3 YPC), 5 Touchdowns
WR Room
#13 Christian Kirk
Age: 25 HT: 5’11 WT: 200 College: Texas A&M Draft: RD2 Pick 47
Contract: 4 years / $18,000,000 per year (18th at position) – Expires 2026
There are a lot of wide receivers that signed contracts this offseason that owe Christian Kirk a huge thank you. Kirk set the wide receiver market when he signed a four-year, $72 million contract with $37 million guaranteed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Not bad for a guy that has only one 70-plus catch season and has never eclipsed more than 1,000 yards or 7-plus touchdowns in a single season. Kirk set career highs in both receptions (77) and receiving yards (982) in 2021 and looks to be the Jaguars WR1 entering the 2022 season.
2022 Fantasy Outlook:
Receiving: 19% Target Share, 112 Targets, 74 Receptions, 890 Yards (12.0 YPR), 6 Touchdowns
“Jones has had five seasons with over 100 targets but has only eclipsed 1,000 yards once”
#11 Marvin Jones Jr.
Age: 32 HT: 6’2 WT: 199 College: Cal Draft: RD5 Pick 166
Contract: 1 year / $6,250,000 per year (42nd at position) – Expires 2023
Marvin Jones led the Jaguars receiving group last season with 120 targets (career high), 73 receptions, 832 yards, and four touchdowns. It was his first season in Jacksonville after spending the last nine years with the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions. Jones has had five seasons with over 100 targets but has only eclipsed 1,000 yards once back in 2017, when he led the NFL with an average of 18 yards per reception. Over the last five seasons Jones has finished with nine touchdowns three times. Jones will continue to see opportunities heading into his 10th NFL season and has a built-in rapport with Trevor Lawrence.
2022 Fantasy Outlook:
Receiving: 17% Target Share, 101 Targets, 61 Receptions, 712 Yards (11.7 YPR), 5 Touchdowns
#7 Zay Jones
Age: 27 HT: 6’2 WT: 200 College: ECU Draft: RD2 Pick 37
Contract: 3 years / $8,000,000 per year (38th at position) – Expires 2025
Zay Jones spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills before spending the last three with the Raiders. With the Raiders last season, he played all 17 games and finished with 70 targets, 47 receptions, 546 yards, and one touchdown. His 70 targets were the biggest output since 2018 when he was a member of the Buffalo Bills and was targeted 102 times. With Laviska Shenault no longer on the team, Jones is the WR3 in this offense and should end up with similar production to his last season in Las Vegas.
2022 Fantasy Outlook:
Receiving: 12% Target Share, 71 Targets, 45 Receptions, 537 Yards (11.9 YPR), 3 Touchdowns
TE Room
#17 Evan Engram
Age: 27 HT: 6’3 WT: 240 College: Ole Miss Draft: RD1 Pick 23
Contract: 1 year / $9,000,000 per year (12 at position) – Expires 2023
Evan Engram seemed like a can’t miss prospect coming out of Ole Miss after being selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. His athletic profile was elite with a 4.42 40 and a speed score that ranked him in the 97th percentile. Over his first five seasons with the New York Giants, he compiled an average of 86 targets, 52 receptions, 566 yards, and just three touchdowns per season. He finished the 2021 season with a career low 408 yards and just 8.9 yards per reception. I expect his production to return to the median in 2022, but I would not be surprised if he set career marks in receptions and yards either. I’m grabbing all the shares I can at his current price tag.
2022 Fantasy Outlook:
Receiving: 14% Target Share, 83 Targets, 52 Receptions, 537 Yards (10.3 YPR), 4 Touchdowns
