Bio

Despite running for nearly 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns as a high school senior at Mount Enterprise High School in Texas, Kendre Miller was mostly recruited as a linebacker in the 2020 recruiting class. In fact, he briefly committed to the University of Texas San Antonio to play linebacker. He was eventually convinced by TCU—the only Power Five program to make an offer—to play running back for the Horned Frogs. The three-star prospect played well in a minimal role as a freshman, rushing for 388 yards and two touchdowns on 54 attempts. Miller saw a few more opportunities in his sophomore season while sharing a backfield with Zach Evans. Miller took his 83 carries for 623 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging over seven yards per carry for the second-straight season. He also caught 12 passes for 117 yards.

When Evans transferred to Ole Miss ahead of the 2022 campaign, Miller moved to the top of the TCU depth chart. He took full advantage, leading the team with 1,399 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. He added an additional 116 yards on 16 receptions. Miller finished 15th in the nation in rushing yards and was a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s top running back. TCU went all the way to the national championship, but an injury forced Miller to sit and watch his team get blown out by the Georgia Bulldogs.

Bottom Line:

Kendre Miller took his opportunity and ran with it in 2022. He proved to be a workhorse back whose game should translate to immediate production at the next level. Miller is a between-the-tackles grinder who has the size, vision, and toughness to eat up yards on inside runs. He may not torch anyone with his wheels, but he has the requisite speed and explosion to be a productive NFL runner. Miller doesn’t offer much in the passing game but he should carve out a role as an early-down back who will get opportunities at the goal line as well.
