Showdown Captain: Trevor Lawrence

Lawrence had a shaky beginning to his playoff career, throwing four interceptions in the first half versus the Chargers. He settled down throwing 4 touchdowns and leading his team to his first playoff win. • KC has allowed the 2nd most yards per attempt, while Lawrence is #9 in deep ball attempts.

Flex Stack: Christian Kirk

Kirk got paid this offseason and he has shown Jaguars fans why all year. He has been Lawrence’s safety valve all year, and this matchup with the Chiefs is an opportunity for Kirk to showcase his skill set.

  • KC has allowed the 3rd most TD/game to wide receivers, and Kirk sits at #5 this season in red zone targets.
  • In the last four games where Lawrence has more than 40 attempts Kirk has averaged 10.75 targets, 7 receptions, 80 yards. In those three games he has three touchdowns and seven red zone targets.
  • Week 10 vs. the Chiefs, Kirk had nine catches on 12 targets for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Flex Stack: Evan Engram

Engram has finally become the tight end that Giants fans always wanted… for the Jaguars. He has slowly worked into an efficient player and Doug Pederson has utilized him in different ways to let Engram use his athleticism to become a dangerous playmaker.

  • KC has allowed four touchdowns over the last four games to tight ends and have allowed the 5th most this season to the position.
  • In Engram’s last three games where Lawrence has more than 40 attempts Engram averages 12 targets, 8.7 receptions, 106 yards, and a touchdown.
  • Engram ran 37 routes in the Wild Card game, his season-high for 2022.

Flex Option: Travis Etienne

ETN SZN. Etienne had a 92% snap share in the Wild Card game vs the Chargers. The Jaguars are going to ride him until the wheels fall off this postseason, and he is one snap away from booming every week.

  • KC has been middle of the pack vs RB, allowing 15.51 fantasy points per game.

McKinnon’s role in the offense expanded towards the end of the season, and Mahomes relies on him heavily out of the backfield. McKinnon is set for a big day versus the Jags.

  • Jags allow the most targets per game to running backs (7.89) and the 2nd most catches (5.94). McKinnon is 4th in YPR (9.1) and 1st in fantasy points per opportunity (1.37).
  • McKinnon played a large role in the 2022 playoffs, averaging 17 touches a game.
  • The Jags have been good against the rush, as they are 5th in YPC (3.86). A running back hasn’t reach 4 YPC since Week 14, limiting Pacheco’s ability.

Fade Play: Kickers and Defenses

  • Both teams are top 10 in scoring in the red zone and bottom 10 in defensive scoring in the red zone, which will not allow many opportunities for Butker or Patterson.
  • The over/under opened at 52.5, the highest of the weekend. Expect the teams to get in the end zone early and often.

Prediction: 34-31 Jaguars

It’s the magic. The Jaguars have the weapons and the opportune defense that it takes to beat the Chiefs. It will be a shootout, and Trevor Lawrence will cement himself as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL.
