Week 3 Thursday Night Showdown on Draftkings
Giants vs 49ers Draftkings Showdown
Showdown Captain mode is a DraftKings tournament where you have $50,000 to create a lineup using 6 players from a standalone single game. One of those players will be your captain. The captain costs 1.5 times their salary and will accumulate 1.5 times the points. As with every slate, GAME THEORY IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. Even more so in Showdown, you want your lineup to tell a story of how the game will go. There are a lot of options based on how you see the game going but ALWAYS make sure there’s correlation between your players.

Injuries to Monitor
Saquon Barkley injured his ankle late against the Cardinals and will be held out of this game. The Giants don’t play again until Monday Night in week 4 and should give Saquon as much time as possible to heal.
Brandon Aiyuk is dealing with a shoulder injury. He re-entered the game but was clearly in pain. He’s likely a game-time decision. I’m operating under the impression that he’s out.
Breakdown
The 49ers are 2-0 and look to be one of the top teams in the NFC. They’ve scored 30 points in back to back games averaging 173.5 yards on the ground and 213 passing yards. Brock Purdy has yet to throw an interception. Defensively they’ve allowed an average of 247.5 yards passing and 65 rushing yards through two games.
The Giants basically should have forfeited their 1st game and had a miracle cone back in Week 2. Jones threw for 104 yards in Week 1 and 321 in Week 2. They’ve averaged 117.5 rushing yards. Defensively their numbers look a little skewed considering the Cowboys barely needed to play offense and they played a terrible offense in the Cardinals this past week. They’ve allowed 371 yards through the air and 273 yards rushing to this point.
It’s hard to make a case for anything other than a 49ers blowout here. The Giants haven’t looked great offensively and now will be without Barkley. I’ll likely only have one or two Giants at most in any lineup. With a lack of value, both Kickers are in play.
I’m going to be heavy on the 49ers especially at captain. I love Kittle in this one especially if Aiyuk is out. I like pairing Eli Mitchell in McCaffrey captain lineups as a cheap contrarian piece. McCaffrey can get them up big early and Eli comes in to mop it up late. The 49ers defense could make sense in that lineup as well.
Captain/Flex
Christian McCaffrey $19,800/$13,200
Obviously CMC is the top option in any given week but even more so on a one game slate. The issue is the price here. At captain it takes away a lot of options. I’ll use him there but will more be in as a flex in most lineups. The Giants have already allowed five rushing TDs and McCaffrey has scored in his last 11 games.
Deebo Samuel $13,200/$8,800
Deebo is my favorite Captain option and I probably won’t be alone especially if Aiyuk can’t play. Nine targets last week and five rushing attempts are exactly what we want to see for Deebo. The usage adds a safe floor and Deebo has a huge ceiling especially against this Giants defense.
George Kittle $9,900/$6,600
This is why I hate Kittle for season long. We see him disappear for stretches then have a blowup game out of nowhere. The upside and salary savings make him a great captain option. He scored multiple TDs in 3 of his last four games in 2022.
Darren Waller $11,100/$7,400
Waller is the only Giant I’m considering as a captain and likely will only use him in larger fields to get different. He wasn’t 100% in Week 1 but was utilized in the 2nd half comeback last week. He caught six balls on eight targets for 76 yards. Waller leads the team in targets, receptions and yards through two weeks.

The Rest
Daniel Jones $10,200
Jones will likely be running for his life in this one. Speaking of running, Jones has 22 rushes which leads the league for QB attempts through two weeks. His performance has always taken a hit when Barkley is out. The rushing provides a safe floor but I worry about Jones’ ceiling in this one which will lead to me only using him as a flex.
Brandon Aiyuk $8,600
Aiyuk was in a lot of pain on Sunday so it’s difficult to know how much he’ll play in a game that should be a blowout. If he plays he’s still worth a play and could be lower owned because of the injury concerns.
Brock Purdy $9,400
Purdy is incredibly efficient in this offense. However I don’t think he offers enough upside to warrant a Captain play. Purdy is very efficient and takes care of the football. With a plethora of weapons he absolutely should be used as a flex play.
49ers DEF $5,800
It’s rare that I’ll write up the defense but look at what Dallas did to this team in Week 1. People will use them at captain and they could actually be a popular captain pick. I’m not willing to go there but they are absolutely a strong play.
Darius Slayton $5,600
Slayton leads Giants receivers in snaps, targets, receptions and air yards. He also has a healthy 15.5 yard ADOT. Slayton could pay off on limited opportunities.
Isaiah Hodgins$6,400
Hodgins has played the 2nd most snaps behind Slayton. He probably doesn’t offer much upside but likely has the best chance at a TD of the Giants receivers.
Matt Breida $7,000
With Barkley out Breida will get a good amount of work. That’s it thats all I got. It’s not a great matchup but with the opportunities he’ll get there are worse plays.
Jalen Hyatt $5,200
Hyatt flashed his big play ability on a 58 yard bomb on Sunday. He only has three targets on the season but his target share should increase as the season goes on. It’s also nice on a one game slate to know that a cheaper play can pay off on one play.
Eli Mitchell $2,400
Mitchell has been completely nonexistent on this offense. He didn’t play a single snap last week. This could be a blowout and on a short week there’s no reason to give McCaffrey a huge workload. If the 49ers are running out the clock late Eli will get some carries. When he gets to play he has been effective averaging just under five yards a carry for his career.
Parris Campbell $4,400
Campbell has been an afterthought in this offense but could see an uptick in opportunities with Barkley out. The Giants could look to get the ball out quickly against this defense and Campbell should be the benefactor. He doesn’t have much upside but could pile up some catches.
Gary Brightwell $5,000
Brightwell should get the bulk of the passing work with Barkley missing. The 49ers have allowed the 3rd most receptions to RBs this season. I’d like his price to be a little lower considering we don’t know how this backfield will pan out.
Jauan Jennings $4,800
Campbell is a guy that doesn’t see many opportunities but if Aiyuk can’t go he’ll look some looks. He does have some big play upside and with a lack of value on the slate you’d likely only need a couple long catches or a TD to pay off.
Eric Gray $1,400
Again we don’t know how this backfield will play out so Gray could see some run as the cheapest playable piece in this game.
