Finding Wide Receiver Values In 2021
The time of year is upon us again, many dynasty startups are popping up. We all have that itch to dive in and start drafting. Like wise it is a great time to start trading in your standing dynasty leagues. Why is this because it is one of the best times to find good value in players. The reason for this is due to many players being devalued due to incoming rookies. However some of them are for good reason while others for no reason at all. I am here to give you some in site on a few good value wide receivers to target in startups or to target in trade negotiations. Let’s dive right in folks!
Courtland Sutton
Sutton was a budding star prior to his injury last season in week one. He finished 2019 as the WR18 while averaging 14.2 per game as a sophomore. He dealt with multiple quarterback changes throughout the season, while still producing 1112 yards on only 72 receptions. To go with that he added 6 touchdowns. Although the numbers are super eye popping the film is, he clearly showed that he was an alpha receiver. He showed great ability to win contested catches as well as an ability to take it to the house at times.
Sutton is in line for a quarterback upgrade with Bridgewater, also the rumors of Aaron Rodgers or Deshaun Watson could be huge upgrades. Suttons value in dynasty startups at WR27 feels like we’re drafting him at his floor. Im all in on Sutton being a top 24 wide receiver in 2021 and think you should snatch this value up in all the drafts you can!
Robert Woods
Why are we not talking about Robert Woods more? This is a question I ask myself regularly lately, and feel you should too. Everyone is hyping up Matt Stafford to the Rams expecting a more higher octane passing attack. So let’s talk about the guys catching the ball than! Woods has been mister constant over the past three years. He has finished WR11, WR14 and WR14 over the past three years. These were all with Jared Goff at the helm, now adding Stafford why cant Woods close in on a top 12 finish? The answer is he can, this would be a ceiling for him but the upside is there due to his versatility. The Rams like to use him in the run game especially near the goal line. He saw 4 red zone rushing attempts to lead the Rams wide receivers.
With all of this upside we just talked about his current ADP does not make sense. Woods is coming off the board at WR30 currently. This is insane value for a player who has the potential to finish WR15 or higher! I am all in on Woods even at a higher ADP so this is just free money! So make sue you snag this free money so your not sorry you missed out.
Tyler Boyd
I hate to break it to all the Higgins and Chase truthers out there, however Boyd is the wide receiver we want in 2020. The Bengals showed last season that they are ready to air the ball out, to go with the addition of Chase in the draft we should expect the same in 2021. Joe Burrow is on pace to return week one which is great news for this offense in general. As we saw last year Burrow enjoyed Boyds availability out of the slot. Boyd has a very good ability to create separation and a pleater-a of route combinations. He has also proven over the past few years to be a very underrated fantasy asset. Over the past three years he has finished WR15, WR21 and WR28 in PPR leagues. However in 2020 he was WR11 averaging over 16 PPR points a game before the Burrow injury.
So why cant Boyd be a top15 wide receiver in 2021 with a healthy Joe Burrow and now added weapons to allow for softer coverage. The answer is a simple yes he can be, he has top 15 upside while being drafted as the WR40! If this is not good value, then I don’t know what is.
Gabriel Davis
Davis showed huge promise in 2020 as he cemented a role in the high octane passing attack in Buffalo. He did not finish the season as a huge fantasy asset due to the lack of constant involvement, however when given the opportunity he balled out! He produced seven touchdowns in 2020, this was a mark good enough for second amongst rookie wide receivers. Davis brings an element to the wide receiver group that no one else can duplicate currently. This element is size he stands 6-2, 216 pounds, he is a clear threat in the end zone when passing. In the playoffs we saw Allen start to target Davis more and he came through with some amazing catches in important moments. With the release of John Brown and to possibility of a Cole Beasley retirement there is no better time to buy into this impressive sophomore wide receiver.
Currently Davis is coming off draft boards as the WR56, this is crazy value to me. Davis could be in line for close to 100 targets based on the pure passing volume of the Bills offense. The upside could be as high as a low end WR2 in 2021. You will be paying WR4 prices for a potential WR2! Be ahead of the wave and set the trend, snag Davis in every draft you can!
