DFS: Week 2 Top Stacks

Top Stacks For Week 2 DFS

Choosing the right quarterback is a key step in the DFS process. The highest-scoring quarterbacks often carry a pass-catcher or two into the winning lineup. Nailing your primary stacks is the key to winning in DFS, and I’m here to help you with that. Each week, as part of my process, I evaluate each quarterback in five different areas:

  • Expected volume relative to salary
  • Matchup vs opposing defense
  • Game environment
  • Ownership
  • Raw talent

Now, this is not an original idea I had. Obviously, these are things you consider for every player when you’re creating a lineup. However, it’s really helpful to take the time and evaluate every single option using these criteria. I learned this, among many other great DFS concepts, from the team at One Week Season. Seriously, check them out and learn how to be better at DFS using this link.

Back to my process, I give each quarterback 0, 0.5, or 1 point depending on how they grade in that area. If a player has a 4 or higher grade, I consider them in my player pool. If they have a perfect 5/5, I will usually keep them in my final pool. After looking at each quarterback for Week 2, I’ve narrowed the list down to three great plays. I’m a 3-max player, so I’ll be making a lineup with each of these stacks. So, who do I view as the best quarterback plays this week? Let’s take a look.

Justin Herbert, Chargers – $7000

Stacking options:

  • WR Keenan Allen – $7100
  • WR Mike Williams – $5700
  • WR Quinten Johnston – $3900
  • TE Gerald Everett – $4100

I’m going right back to the well with Herbert this week. Coming off a QB6 finish against the Miami Dolphins, Herbert has an even better matchup against the pass-funnel Titans this week. Tennessee’s run defense is stout, but their secondary is prone to exploitation. Star RB Austin Ekeler could miss this game due to an ankle injury, so Herbert could be throwing more than expected.

I don’t know if I can trust Johnston or Everett after their Week 1 usage, but the two main receivers are great to stack. The Titans allowed eight explosive plays through the air (15+ yards) against an inferior passing attack in New Orleans. This was tied for second in the league behind… wait for it… the Chargers, who allowed 17 (!!!) explosive pass plays against Miami. This sets up well for Titans pass catchers (Hopkins, Burks, Okonkwo) as bringbacks in your Herbert stacks.

Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars – $6500

Stacking options:

  • WR Calvin Ridley- $7200
  • WR Christian Kirk – $5100
  • WR Zay Jones – $4700
  • TE Evan Engram- $4800

I promise I’m not just reusing picks from last week for the hell of it. I think this is another great spot for Lawrence this week, even better than last time. The Jags should be pushed a lot more by Patrick Mahomes and company, especially if star tight end Travis Kelce is active.

This game’s total of 51 is the highest on the slate, and for good reason. Ridley’s price is still fair for the production he’s expected to get. Kirk is a risk, but he should do better against the Chiefs balanced defensive approach, as opposed to the zone-heavy defense of Indianapolis. Kirk has always performed better against man coverage throughout his career. Jones is fine, but I’d rather just pay $400 more for Kirk if I had the chance. As far as Engram is concerned, he’s perfectly fine at his price tag. There are a ton of options for KC bringbacks, but my favorites would be Kelce (if he plays), Marquez-Valdez Scantling, and Pacheco.

Jared Goff, Lions – $6200

Stacking options:

  • WR Amon-Ra St. Brown – $7800
  • WR Josh Reynolds – $3700
  • WR Marvin Jones Jr. – $3600
  • TE Sam LaPorta- $3900
  • RB Jamyr Gibbs – $6300

Finally, I picked someone that wasn’t used last week! Goff and the Lions get to face a Seattle secondary that looked quite bad last Sunday, allowing Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua to combine for 16/238/0 on 23 targets. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Detroit has a better offensive line than the Rams, or that Amon-Ra St. Brown is better than anyone on the Rams. Reynolds is a good value after posting a 4/80/0 line in Kansas City, and LaPorta could be a value tight end this week.

You can even throw Gibbs in there if you want to get different, if you think he’ll play more snaps this week. This is a smash spot for Goff, who doesn’t project to carry much ownership. This game boasts the second-highest total on the slate, and there are a plethora of great bringback options from Seattle if you stack Goff.
