Tale of the Tape: Jackson State Tigers
In three short seasons, Deion Sanders put Jackson State on the map. Primetime has flipped top recruits from Power Five schools to HBCUs. After a shortened 2020 season, Jackson State is 23-2 over the last two seasons, including a perfect 12-0 this year. But it’s not the fact Jackson State is 12-0; it’s how they accomplished this. Only one win not by double digits. An average margin of victory of 26.8 PPG. Only allowing 20 points in two of 12 games.
As many know, Deion Sanders did accept the Colorado opening. He is expected to coach in the Celebration Bowl.

Players to Know: QB Shedeur Sanders
Will follow his father to Colorado, but as of this writing is expected to play in the Celebration Bowl. 3,383 passing yards, completing over 70% of his attempts. 36 passing touchdowns to just six interceptions. Added five rushing touchdowns on the ground.
DL Justin Ragin
Having a monster senior season for the Tigers. Ragin leads the team with eight sacks, forcing two fumbles as well.
Tale of the Tape: North Carolina Central Eagles
Dominating the MEAC, the Eagles of North Carolina Central were the lone team to finish the season above 500. In large part due to one of the top offenses in FCS; the Eagles ranked 6th in scoring at 38.4 PPG. The Eagles went 4-1 in conference play, with the sole loss coming against South Carolina State. After the loss, the Eagles outscored their last four opponents 148-76.

Player to Know: QB Davius Richard
Dual threat quarterback who threw for 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Was the team’s second leading rusher with 691 yards and a team leading 13 rushing touchdowns.
LB Noah Wilder
Leads the team with four interceptions and second on the team with 41 total tackles. Returned one interception for a touchdown.
Bowl Game Trend:
- The MEAC representative is 5-1 in the Celebration Bowl
Game Synopsis:
This is the largest spread among bowl games. However, this bowl has been dominated by the MEAC, winning five of six bowl games. Jackson State was a double digit favorite last year, but fell 31-10 to South Carolina State. Obviously the story in this game is Deion Sanders leaving Jackson State for Colorado, and the fallout of whom will follow him to Boulder. Deion is coaching and says he intends the job is not complete until Jackson State wins the Celebration Bowl. As of now, no one from Jackson State is sitting out. I think this one will be close, but Deion finishes the job and ends his tenure with Jackson State in celebration.
