ADP Movers

As we approach the kick off of the 2021 season, it can mean only one thing – draft time!

That means draft preparation time and trawling through your favorite resources to get the rankings you like to use in your draft. That’s great but rankings alone aren’t going to be enough, you need to understand the Average Draft Position (ADP) of the site that you’ll be drafting on.

Put simply, if one of your favourite players is generally going in round five on the platform you’re drafting then you likely don’t need to take him in round three. Instead, you might want to draft another stud in round three and take your player in round four (just to be sure).

Now let’s look at the biggest risers and fallers on each of the major platforms.

Yahoo

Risers

We’re getting close to the start of the season and depth charts are starting to become clear. Corey Davis is the epitome of this as he’s benefitted from a good preseason as the number one target for Zach Wilson.

The other clear pattern in the Yahoo risers is the running backs who have had competition removed from their backfield. Damien Harris, Gus Edwards and James Robinson all get an ADP bump from the trade of Sony Michel and injuries to Dobbins and Etienne respectively.

Tyler Boyd sees himself as a riser, presumably a knock-on effect of Ja’Marr Chase’s preseason dropsies.

Fallers

On the downside, I’m always happy to see this book-ended by a Defense and a Kicker who we do NOT need to be overdrafting.

Injury and competition worries are the order of the day in the rest of this list. Uncertainties with Golladay, Thomas and now Irv Smith are joined by Dallas Goedert who still cannot shake that pesky Zach Ertz.

Risers

Some familiar looking trends here with James Robinson and Damien Harris seeing the benefits of the Etienne injury and Sony Michel trade. They’re joined by Ronald Jones, Myles Gaskin, James Connor, and Melvin Gordon – it’s not obvious if there’s any particular reason for these specific players to get a bump but with some big injuries to running backs in the last couple of weeks, I suspect this tier of backs is starting to get bumped up draft boards.

Fallers

No surprise to see the big injury impacts here. Etienne, Dobbins, Hilton and Irv Smith have all been impacted by injury in recent days. Henderson is impacted by the Sony Michel trade dinting confidence in him, and Tannehill looks to have got some people spooked with the recent Covid results.

Risers

Running backs again are getting boosted up the board in MFL. Gus Edwards, James Robinson and Damien Harris reflect the same as the other platforms while Jamaal Williams jumps up following some worrying comments from Dan Campbell about D’Andre Swift.

Unfortunately MFL drafters are pushing Defenses up the ADP list again. The good news is that’s more value for you in those spots.

Fallers

Rinse and repeat with Etienne and Dobbins injuries and Henderson displaying the Michel effect.

The rest of this fallers list is made up of players who haven’t hit radars in preseason, either through injury or rest. This is a straight up reflection of drafters who just haven’t seen these players in action – out of sight, out of mind.

Stop. Drafting. Defenses. Early (and Kickers for that matter).

Thank you

Again, take advantage of anyone in your league who does this and draft some valuable players instead.

Only other thing of note here is Gus Edwards getting a significant jump following the Dobbins injury.

Fallers

Dobbins and Etienne again top the bill, no need for us to keep talking about those ones.

Interestingly, there’s a few Quarterbacks dropping down the board and notably Deshaun Watson is still hanging on, presumably people taking a punt that he’ll be allowed to play at some point this season.

Bateman and Hilton reflect the ongoing injuries to the later round wide receivers where there’s plenty of similar options available without as much risk.
