Bio

With a reported 23 offers, D’Andre Swift chose Georgia over rival Alabama and Penn State.  The former five-star recruit from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, ranked as 247’s #4 RB in the 2017 class.  As a freshman, Swift was a key reserve to Sony Michel and Nick Chubb during the Bulldogs 2017 National Championship appearance, totaling 81 carries for 618 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, while adding 17 catches for 153 yards and another touchdown. These statistics led Swift to be named Freshman All-SEC by the coaches.  After Michel and Chubb left for the NFL, Swift transitioned to the lead back for Georgia and totaled 359 carries for 2,267 yards and 17 touchdowns rushing, while adding 56 receptions for 513 yards and four more touchdowns.  His junior year statistics landed him on the Coaches’ All-SEC 1st Team and All-SEC 2nd Team by the Associated Press.

Bottom Line

D’Andre Swift is in the conversation to be the 1.01 of your 2020 dynasty rookie drafts.  There are very few negatives to his game, but from a scouting standpoint, I wanted to see more from Swift in big games.  He played well against teams like LSU, Alabama, Florida and Notre Dame, but I wanted to see more.  Georgia had one of the best offensive lines in all of college football, and I can only find one game (vs Auburn in 2018) where I was dazzled by his pure statistics.

But this is what makes Swift such a special player.  He was a game plan altering player each week, put forward solid statistics, and I still wanted more.  I keep going back and watching Swift and each time I am left in awe of something different he puts on tape.  Swift truly has a three-down skillset at the NFL level, and is a likely top 15 fantasy RB from the time he enters the league.
