This weekly series looks at two fantasy sleepers outside of the consensus top-24 that I am the highest on and why. I will break down the case for both players, giving my view as to what makes them strong flex spot starts. Also, I will compare where they are ranked, and give my own ranking for comparison. Here are some Week 13 Sleeper Candidates, Thanksgiving edition!
A Brief Giving of Thanks
I would like to take a brief detour to celebrate the spirit of this holiday and give thanks to some key people. Most noteworthy, boss-man Alex Johnson that took a chance on me, an unknown, aspiring writer. Additionally my wife, without her love and support I have no idea where I would be. Also, my family that all have been encouraging me throughout my journey. This holiday has always been special to me. Sitting down and having a meal with people I care about breeds a genuine kindness that I hope spills over into the rest of the year. Lately, it has also meant enjoying football in between helpings of delicious food. Without any further ado, let’s get to the Week 13 sleeper candidates!
Week 13 Sleeper RB
Kenyan Drake — Consensus Rank: 25 My Rank: 22
The Arizona Cardinals have unleashed Drake. Since coming over from Miami, Drake has played three games and has been in on at least 64 percent of the offensive snaps. Additionally, he has had at least 10 carries, and four targets in those games as well. Arizona is facing the Los Angeles Rams who are middle of the road against fantasy RBs. Running Backs are averaging 94 yards rushing and 35 yards receiving against them. Those numbers are attainable for Drake this weekend. Make sure to take an extra helping of him in your flex.
Week 13 Sleeper WR
Jamison Crowder — Consensus Rank: 25 My Rank: 25
Due to his limited upside as the possession/slot receiver, Crowder is not a home run swing and is not my usual type of recommendation. Lately, Sam Darnold has started to look like the QB he was hyped to be this offseason. Crowder has the eye of his QB and is leading the team in targets. Most noteworthy, in three of the last four games he has scored a touchdown. His opponent this week, Cincinnati, is a favorable matchup for WRs. Due to the fact they currently rank 15th in fantasy points against. Crowder, meanwhile, currently ranks 26th in PPR format at his position. He reminds me of the gravy that goes on the turkey and mashed potatoes. It is not the star of the show, but it does make the meal feel complete. Crowder can do the same for rosters in the flex.
