This weekly series looks at two fantasy sleepers outside of the consensus top-24 that I am the highest on and why. I will break down the case for both players, giving my view as to what makes them strong flex spot starts. Also, I will compare where they are ranked, and give my own ranking for comparison. Without further ado, here are my Week 12 sleeper candidates!

Week 12 Sleeper RB

Bo Scarbrough — Consensus Rank: 30 My Rank: 27

In his first career game, Scarbrough preformed admirably. He rushed 14 times for 55 yards and a touchdown. It was also against a middle of the road defense. I expect his workload to increase after such an impressive debut. This week, Scarbrough and the Lions take on Washington’s porous run defense. The Redskins have allowed the eighth most fantasy points per game to RBs. At 6-1 and 235-pounds, Scarbrough runs physical. He’s the kind of running back a defensive minded coach like Matt Patricia will like to use early and often to take pressure off of back up quarterback Jeff Driskel. Scarbrough’s running style and workload will allow him to be a high-end flex play this weekend.

Week 12 Sleeper WR

Darius Slayton — Consensus Rank: 36 My Rank: 22

A rookie on a bad team against the second best defense against his position. What could possibly go wrong? Hear me out, though. Since Week 6, Slayton has played on at least 84-percent of the offensive snaps and has had two multi-touchdown games. The Bears pass rush has been slowing down, generating only six sacks in the last eight games. While this looks like a bad matchup on paper, Daniel Jones and Slayton have developed a strong rapport, especially on deeper routes. Both rookies have been improving as the season goes on and there will be plenty of opportunity with TE Evan Engram out even with WR Sterling Shepard back from a seven game absence. Slayton should be started as a low end WR2/high end WR3 this week.
