This weekly series looks at two fantasy sleepers outside of the consensus top-24 that I am the highest on and why. I will break down the case for both players, giving my view as to why they are strong flex spot starts. Also, I will compare where they are ranked, and give my own ranking for comparison. Without further ado, here are our Week 10 sleeper candidates!
Week 10 RB Sleeper
Tarik Cohen – Consensus Rank: 29 My Rank: 22
Cohen has not topped 20% of offensive snaps in the last three weeks. He has also averaged seven targets with five catches for just 22 yards per game in the same time frame. Additionally, he’s added three carries for nine yards per game and has as many touchdowns as you do. The main reason I have Cohen ranked favorably is the sweet matchup he gets this week. The Detroit Lions are giving up the second-most fantasy points to opposing RBs on the year. With Matthew Stafford potentially sidelined, the Chicago defense is in prime position to feast. This will open up more opportunities than usual for the Chicago backfield to dominate the game. Cohen should see a spike in usage and will be efficient with those opportunities. Especially if your team is an underdog this week, Cohen is a high upside swing for the fences in the flex.
Week 10 WR Sleeper
Robby Anderson – Consensus Rank: 27 My Rank: 20
Anderson has finished inside the top 40 on any given week once this year. Last week, he failed to do so in his best matchup to date. Why in the world would I recommend him this week? Well, the Giants are worse than the Dolphins at giving up points to fantasy WRs. Their average yards per target of 10.17 given up is higher than Cooper Kupp’s (9.1), Michael Thomas’ (9.8) and Mike Evans’ (10.1). Anderson has seen at least 90% of the offensive snaps and is averaging 6 targets per game for the last four weeks. This is the last chance he has to produce for fantasy owners. If he fails to produce this week, by all means, drop him. For now, put him in the flex as a high upside play and one of the best Week 10 fantasy sleeper candidates.
