This weekly series looks at two fantasy sleepers outside of the consensus top-24 that I am the highest on and why. I will break down the case for both players, giving my view as to why they are strong flex spot starts. I will compare where they are ranked, and give my own ranking for comparison. Without further ado, here are our Week 8 sleeper candidates!

Week 8 Sleeper RB

LeSean McCoyConsensus Rank: 25 My Rank: 18

McCoy faces the Packers on Sunday night. While their defense has looked improved, they are giving up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. For those worried about usage, McCoy has had at least ten touches the last two games. He’s also had over 40-percent of the offensive snaps. Unfortunately for Damien Williams owners, McCoy is leading the running back committee. With Patrick Mahomes out with a knee injury, the Chiefs will need to take pressure off of their backup Matt Moore. Leaning on McCoy will allow them to do that. One of the Packers better run defenders is Kenny Clark who got banged up last week and has been limited in practice. If he were to miss, McCoy would move up my rankings even higher.

Week 8 Sleeper WR

Corey DavisConsensus Rank: 29 My Rank: 19

In his first game with Ryan Tannehill at quarterback, Davis led the team in receptions with six (tied with A.J. Brown), led the team in receiving yards with 80, and caught a touchdown. Fantasy owners could suffer fatigue with another round of Davis hype. However, he plays Tampa Bay this week. They currently give up the second most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Tampa’s run defense has been tremendous this year. Because of this, the Titans will struggle to get the ground game going. Tannehill is going to have to throw to get a win, and Davis has the most versatile skill set to help his QB.
