Players The Experts Love: AFC East Fantasy Edition

Experts love to give their opinion. Whether it’s through their rankings, their bold takes, or their articles. However, not often do you hear experts talk about a player that they are genuinely excited to draft. These players will end up on our teams in 2019 and should end up on yours too. Whether it’s the last round dart-throw or a first-round talent, below are the players that our experts are chomping at the bit to draft in the AFC East fantasy section.

Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen, QB

Josh Allen is my target at quarterback in every single draft. Allen is currently sitting at an egregious ADP of 13.06, QB 20 off the board. I have spent months trying to figure out why. Josh Allen was the QB 1 from Weeks 12-17 off the back of a whopping 631 yards rushing and eight touchdowns. While his rushing pace may not stay exactly as it was in his rookie season, his passing will likely take a step forward. Allen will become more accustomed to the NFL and has a full offseason under his belt. Therefore, if Allen can add anything onto his mere ten passing touchdowns over last year, he will soar past his current ADP and potentially become a stable top 12 QB.

Miami Dolphins: Mike Gesicki, TE

With an undrafted ADP, Mike Gesicki could have insane value. Two years removed from crushing it on Saturdays, the 6’6 250lb TE gets a new OC and two QBs that have a shot to try and show the staff that they’re the answer. That OC is New England’s former QB coach, Chad O’Shea. O’Shea loves athletically gifted TEs. By all accounts, the Dolphins should be drafting in the top five. That should mean a lot of negative game scripts. That typically leads to a lot of opportunities for garbage time yards and TDs. Those points count just as much as the ones scored in the first quarter. At the cost of free, it’s a chance I am willing to take.

New England Patriots: Josh Gordon, WR

Josh-gordon-fantasy-football-afc-east
Among the top wonders in the NFL and fantasy football is New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon. One of the most freakishly athletic receivers in the game, when he has avoided time off the field due to legal issues, Gordon has been one of the most dominant wide receivers in the NFL. The league knows what the 28-year-old burner is capable of, especially when Gordon is fully healthy. Catching passes from the likes of Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden, Gordon hauled in a ridiculous league-leading 1646 receiving yards and nine touchdowns back en route to being ranked the number two wide receiver in fantasy in 2013.
Now, Gordon is catching passes from the soon-to-be Hall of Famer Tom Brady and will be heavily relied upon in the Patriots offense, with Rob Gronkowski’s retirement. Last year, Gordon got more and more comfortable within the Patriots offense when he got more acclimated with the playbook. Ranked as the no. 26 wide receiver and no. 72 overall player taken off draft boards, Gordon carries a ton of potential for a top-15 WR finish. What a steal.

New York Jets: Chris Herndon, TE

Chris-herndon-afc-east-fantasy-football
Chris Herndon is my value target from the New York Jets and has been someone worth keeping tabs on after your draft. Herndon is serving a 4 game suspension to begin the season, which is why he is being disregarded as a fantasy asset, but don’t be fooled. The 23-year-old emerging tight end showed as a reliable weapon for Sam Darnold, who is set to take a big step in 2019 following an electric finish to his rookie campaign. The chemistry between the two helped Herndon to 39 receptions, 502 yards, and 4 touchdowns as a rookie.
This isn’t even the best part. What if I told you that you don’t need to spend a pick on him on Draft Day? Herndon isn’t even being drafted and can be obtained off of waivers leading into the season or following the first couple of weeks! You’re able to load your bench with high-upside plays at WR/RB while keeping an eye on an explosive TE prior to his return. Herndon flashed athletic potential in an improving offense and has the potential to be a strong option in a TE landscape scratching for production.
