Week 3 Waiver Wire Targets

Week 3 Waiver Wire Targets

After two regular season weeks, there is still plenty of waiver wire value across multiple sites. Before closing your fantasy football apps tonight, make sure these players are rostered in your leagues. If they are not, put in a waiver wire claim or drop some free agent acquisition budget (FAAB) on these players.

RB Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts

ESPN: 30% rostered; Sleeper: 55%; Yahoo!: 53%
Week 3 opponent: @ Baltimore Ravens

If you beat the Week 3 waiver wire and picked up Zack Moss, you benefitted from a monster Week 2. He played 98% of the Colts’ offensive snaps in what turned out to be a blowout in Houston. No other running back saw a carry or target. With Deon Jackson and Jake Funk as the only current competition in Indianapolis, we could see at least two more weeks with Moss as a bell-cow back. And with Jonathan Taylor’s future with the team up in the air, Moss could be a season long option available on your Week 3 waiver wire.

RB Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns

ESPN: 9% rostered; Sleeper: 16%; Yahoo!: 13%
Week 3 opponent: vs. Tennessee Titans

All-Pro Cleveland Brown running back Nick Chubb suffered a knee injury that required him to be carted off against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the night. Outside of Ford, Pierre Strong Jr. is currently the only other back on the depth chart. Ford rushed for a touchdown and two-point conversion quickly after Chubb departed. While it is unknown how much time Chubb would miss, Ford should be atop everyone’s Week 3 waiver wire given his workload potential in Chubb’s absence.

WR Tutu Atwell, Los Angeles Rams

ESPN: 32% rostered; Sleeper: 32%; Yahoo!: 25%
Week 3 opponent: @ Cincinnati Bengals

While everyone is clamoring for Puka Nacua after his 35 targets through Week 2, Tutu Atwell is another viable option in the Rams’ offense. Atwell has recorded at least six receptions and 75 yards in both games this season. Matthew Stafford’s 93 pass attempts are the second most through Week 2. And while Cooper Kupp is expected to return in Week 5, there is a chance he takes longer to recover. Atwell could be a viable flex option the next few weeks, if not longer. Check your Week 3 waiver wire to check his availability.

TE Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals

ESPN: 47% rostered; Sleeper: 17%; Yahoo!: 10%
Week 3 opponent: vs. Dallas Cowboys

Ertz has 12 receptions on 18 targets to start the season. Marquise Brown (15) is the only other Cardinal with double digit targets. His production with those 12 receptions – 77 receiving yards and zero touchdowns – is not ideal. But he did finish as the TE10 last week in half-PPR scoring formats and has six receptions in each game. This provides a sound floor for a veteran tight end in an offense that will be trailing in most games.

TE Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

ESPN: 1% rostered; Sleeper: 5%; Yahoo!: 2%
Week 3 opponent: vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Thru the first two weeks, Cade Otton has been the third option (nine targets) behind Mike Evans (18) and Chris Godwin (14). Otton has converted eight of his nine targets into catches for only 60 yards (7.5 YPR; 6.7 YPT), but has a great Week 3 matchup against the Eagles. Thru the first two weeks, the Eagles have allowed seven passing touchdowns to the Patriots and Vikings; three touchdowns went to the tight end. Hunter Henry posted a 5-56-1 stat line, while Hockenson had 7-66-2. Both Henry and Hockenson finished as the respective TE1 in the week they played the Eagles. Otton is a free option on your Week 3 waiver wire if you need a tight end fill-in.
