Bio

Jadon Haselwood was a star at Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia. There, he had 53 receptions for 1,032 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior. Haselwood was a five-star prospect and No. 1 ranked wide receiver in the 2019 recruiting class. He received offers from a number of the top schools in the nation, including Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee,  and others. He originally committed to Georgia before changing course and signing with Oklahoma instead. Haselwood played in 10 games as a freshman, hauling in 19 receptions for 272 yards and a single touchdown.

While preparing for his sophomore season, Haselwood suffered a torn ACL in the spring of 2020. That cost him most of the ensuing season. He managed to return for three games but only caught four passes for 65 yards. Back to health in 2021, Haselwood led the Sooners in receptions (39) and receiving touchdowns (6) while amassing 399 receiving yards.

Following the season, Haselwood transferred to Arkansas with his eyes on the vacant WR1 chair left open by the departure of Treylon Burks. While he certainly didn’t match the production of Burks, Haselwood did lead the team with 59 receptions which resulted in 702 receiving yards and three scores.

Bottom Line:

Jadon Haselwood entered college as a five-star recruit, but he never had the production to match that initial hype. While he is big, strong, and physical, Haselwood struggles to translate those traits into consistent separation on his routes. That’s partly because he is lacking a bit in speed and explosion. Instead, Haselwood has to rely on his frame and contested catch ability. It’s unlikely that that will be enough to turn into high-end production at the NFL level, either. With that said, some team that is looking to add a big man to their receiving room will take a flier on him on day three with the hopes that they can turn him into a big slot receiver and red zone weapon. That doesn’t mean you should be drafting him in dynasty leagues, though.
