Showdown Captain mode is a DraftKings tournament where you have $50,000 to create a lineup using 6 players from a standalone single game. One of those players will be your captain. The captain costs 1.5 times their salary and will accumulate 1.5 times the points. As with every slate, GAME THEORY IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. Even more so in Showdown, you want your lineup to tell a story of how the game will go. There are a lot of options based on how you see the game going but ALWAYS make sure there’s correlation between your players.

Overview

The Jacksonville Jaguars head to East Rutherford to face the Jets. This game is essentially a playoff game with both teams’ postseason hopes hanging in the balance.

There will be rain and wind in this game and possibly A LOT of both. Both defenses are absolutely in play. I’ll be heavy on Zonovan and Etienne as well. It should be a lower scoring game but QBs can still be some of the higher scoring players in low scoring games so I’m in on Lawrence at Captain as well. Going heavier on the passing game will definitely be contrarian. The Kickers could also play a big part in this one but could be a bit popular with the idea of a lower scoring game. The wind could make things tricky for kickers so I’ll only sprinkle them in a few lineups.

Captain/Flex

Garrett Wilson $13,500/$9,000
Just like on a main slate, Wilson’s salary is too low. He’ll likely be the highest owned player on the slate. Over the last four weeks, Wilson has a 24.2% target share and has been targeted on 23.8% of his routes run. He’s averaged 18.8 yards per reception over that span.

Trevor Lawrence $17,100/$11,400
Lawrence has been incredible over the last four weeks. He’s averaged 296.5 yards and has thrown a league high 11 TDs over that span. He’s also thrown only one interception over the last six weeks. The Jets are clearly a tough matchup but even with Lawrence’s upside capped he’s still worth a stab as captain in what should be a lower scoring game.

Travis Etienne $14,400/$9,600
Etienne has a floor of 15 carries. He also has big play upside. He’s averaged five yards a carry this season and is tied for the most 40+ yard runs. He also has the 4th most broken tackles since Week 7.

Zonovan Knight $10,500/$7,000
Knight had a rough game last week against a good run defense last week. He averaged 77 rushing yards in his previous three games. He’s had at least 13 carries in four straight games and is tied for the 2nd most broken tackles over that span. There should be plenty of running in this game due to the weather.

The Rest

Christian Kirk $10,200
Kirk will likely be a little lower owned than Jones and Engram due to their recent results and the salary disparity. I like Kirk the most of the bunch. The Jets have been great against WRs but haven’t been as good against slot receivers. He has a 24% target share and has been targeted on 24% of his routes run. He leads the league in targets inside the 5 yard line.

Zach Wilson $9,800
Watching Wilson while invested is not recommended but he has had productive games due to the offensive scheme and surrounding talent. He The Jaguars have allowed the 4th most passing yards and the 2nd most passing TDs over the last four weeks.

Zay Jones $8,200
I could see a lot of people chasing the big game and Jones being very popular. While I don’t see the upside of last week, he does have a safe floor. He’s averaged 10.2 targets over his last five games. He’s averaged 7 catches and 85 yards over

Fantasy football

Evan Engram $7,600
Engram has 25 targets over the last two weeks. He also has a combined 224 yards in those games. He only has 386 yards in his previous 12 games. He’s a very boom bust player but his recent involvement makes him a viable play. I wouldn’t bank on a huge game from him. The Jets have allowed the 7th most receptions to TEs but only 2 TDs all season.

Michael Carter $6,400
Carter has only totalled 13 total touches over the last two games. Based on recent results its hard to trust Carter but he is talented especially in the passing game and the Jaguars have allowed the 2nd most receptions to opposing RBs this
season.

Corey Davis $5,600
Davis has big play upside. He’s averaging 17.7 yards per reception and has an average depth of target of 14.3 yards. He seems to have a rapport with Zach Wilson and the Jaguars have given up the 2nd most receiving TDs this season.

Marvin Jones $5,000
Jones has basically been a glorified TE in recent weeks and that’s how he should be treated in this one. You’re praying for a TD if you play him.

Elijah Moore $4,800
Moore has at least six targets in three straight games which is encouraging considering his lack of usage earlier this season. He’s also topped 50 yards in three of his last four which he only did once in his first four games this season.

Tyler Conklin $3,200
CJ Uzomah $3,000
People will look at the box score and see that Uzomah scored twice. However he did so on only two targets. Over the last four weeks, Conklin has been on the field more, has run 54 more routes and has out targeted Uzomah 20 to 8. Both are volatile options but Conklin has a safer floor. Over the last six weeks, the Jaguars have given up the most points to TEs despite only playing five games.

JaMycal Hasty $2,800
Hasty will see a couple of touches but will need Etienne to be limited to have any real value.

James Robinson $2,200
Robinson has been inactive but could be activated for this one in a revenge spot. I wouldn’t count on much work unless it comes out that Bam Knights ankle isn’t 100%.

Jamal Agnew $2,000
Agnew is the most viable cheap option in this game. He’ll see some targets and gets some rushing attempts. He doesn’t offer much upside but is at least involved at a very cheap salary.

Braxton Berrios $1,600
Berrios gets opportunities but generally doesn’t do much with them. They have used him in goaline packages from time to time and he has two rushing TDs and a passing TD this season.
