Colts VS Broncos DRAFTKINGS SHOWDOWN
Showdown Captain mode is a DraftKings tournament where you have $50,000 to create a lineup using 6 players from a standalone single game. One of those players will be your captain. The captain costs 1.5 times their salary and will accumulate 1.5 times the points. As with every slate, GAME THEORY IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. Even more so in Showdown, you want your lineup to tell a story of how the game will go. There are a lot of options based on how you see the game going but ALWAYS make sure there’s correlation between your players.

Injuries to Monitor
Jonathan Taylor is dealing with an ankle injury and will not play in this game.
Javonte Williams tore his ACL and is out for the year.
Melvin Gordon has a neck issue and has been limited at practice.
Russell Wilson is dealing with a sore shoulder and has been limited at practice. He should be fine but worth checking.
Overview
The Colts take on the Broncos this week and it’s a little depressing with the loss of Javonte Williams. The Colts are averaging the least points per game in the NFL and the Broncos haven’t exactly been an offensive juggernaut averaging only 16.5 points per game. Both teams have been good defensively. The Colts have only given up 207.5 yards through the air per week and the Broncos have allowed 170.75 passing yards per game. Denver is top 5 in points per game allowed giving up 17 points per game and the Colts are middle of the pack allowing 21.3 points per game.
Although these aren’t exactly high powered offenses, there are a lot of options in this game. Even more so due to the injuries. Each team has a WR1 but practically anyone else on the roster is viable behind them. I will have a tight core of who I’m building around. Mostly Wilson and more so Sutton. I’ll have them in most lineups and spread around the other options.
Captain/Flex
Michael Pittman $15,900/$10,600
Pittman is the best pass catcher on the team and they have to focus on getting him the ball more. He’s had at least 8 catches in two of his three games. He’s averaging 9.3 targets and 75 yards a game.
Courtland Sutton $14,100/$9,400
Sutton is the clear top option for Wilson. He has a 27.8% target share. He’s 2nd in the league in air yards and has a 13.4 yard average depth of target. Even without scoring a TD he is a valuable asset.
Russell Wilson $15,600/$10,400
While its not the season many projected, Wilson has at least scored over 20 Draftkings points this year. He’s also averaged 5 rushes a game the last two weeks and scored a rushing TD last week.
The Rest
Jerry Jeudy $7,800
Jeudy isn’t seeing much volume but still has a 20% target share. In a game lacking offensive fire power, he offers some yardage upside with 16.6 yards per reception and has scored the most TDs on the team.
Matt Ryan $9,600
Ryan looks to be on the decline but has thrown for over 350 yards in two games and thrown multiple TDs in back to back games. If he can do either its a great outing on a one game slate.
Melvin Gordon $8,800
Fumbles have been an issue but with Javonte gone, Gordon will be a necessity. Prior to last week, he had at least 10 carries in every game. He also leads the team with 5 touches inside the five yard line.
Nyheim Hines $6,800
Hines has averaged 4.25 receptions this year. Over the past two seasons, Hines averages 77.2 yards from scrimmage in games where he sees at least 10 touches. With Taylor banged up 10 touches is easily obtainable.
Mike Boone $6,200
On limited touches, Boone has averaged 5.6 yards per carry in his career. He averaged 6.6 yards per carry last week on 36% of the snaps. Melvin Gordon only played 19% of snaps.
Alec Pierce $5,400
I’m personally a bug fan of Pierce. I believe he has a lot of upside. In two games he’s averaged over 20 yards a catch. In only two games he has only two less air yards than Pittman.
Latavius Murray $5,200
Murray could be interesting going forward but its hard to see him having a significant role this week considering he just joined the team Tuesday. He could see some goaline work if the team moves away from Gordon due to his fumbling issues but you’re really hoping for a TD.
Mo Alie Cox $4,800
Jelani Woods $2,200
Speaking of hoping for a TD, that’s the value of Cox and Woods. Cox had 2 TDs last week and Woods had two the week before. Cox is on the field far more than Woods and has out targeted him 14 to 4. Cox is the preferred play but the $2k savings can’t be ignored.
DEN $4,200
The Broncos have the 5th most sacks so far this season and Matt Ryan has already been sacked 15 times. He’s also thrown 5 picks this year.
Parris Campbell $3,600
Campbell has yet to surpass four catches in a game but is on the field a lot. He’s played the 2nd most snaps and has actually run the most routes on the team.
Kylen Granson $3,200
While the other two TEs are TD hopefuls, Gransen’s value is tied to his usage. He’s the third most targeted pass catcher and has the 2nd most catches on the team. He has a 22% target share.
Eric Saubert $1,200
Shubert has seen his snaps increase each week playing 77% of snaps last week. He has a higher average depth of target than Sutton.
Kendall Hinton $1,000
Hinton hasn’t topped three targets in any game this season. He’s averaged 21.5 yards per reception and a big play could be enough to pay off this price.
Albert Okwuegbunam $2,800
I personally won’t be playing him but had to list him. He’s played less snaps every week and only played one snap last week.
Deon Jackson $1,600
Phillip Lindsay $400
If Taylor can’t play, one of these two will be involved. Jackson has been exclusively playing special teams and could stay in that role. Lindsay could see some early down work and is very cheap.
