Top 5 Week 4 Takeaways
Another week down and all I have to say is Week 4 continues to remind us how hard fantasy football is. Sending positive thoughts to Tua Tagovailoa and Javonte Williams and hope for speedy recoveries. That said, we move onto my top 5 takeaways from Week 4.
5. Marcus Mariota
You know what, I’m just gonna say it, Mariota is a criminal. Ok, I’m sure he’s a really nice dude, but the Kyle Pitts usage is just wrong. I’m having investigations put into play about it. I will not accept under 4 points in 3 of the 4 games so far, and I don’t think you should either. He was too prolific of a college player and as a 20 year-old rookie for this to be happening. It is exacerbating, and don’t think eyes aren’t on you too Arthur Smith! I have a belly full of white dog crap (because the Javonte injury) and now you lay this shit on me?! This should be the one and only reason he gets fired; his inability to make Pitts into a weapon. Save us Desmond Ridder, you’re our only hope.
4. Eagles Remain a Wagon
They spotted the Jags a 14-point lead in crappy weather and still steamrolled a good team. Miles Sanders had a brilliant day with 134 yards and 2 TDs, Goedert continued to be consistent with a 5 catch 72 yard day, AJB had what felt like a quiet (for him) 5 for 95 yard day, and Eagles defense had its 3rd double digit fantasy output. I’m sure they’ll trip up because it’s the NFL and weirdness is what it calls a day that ends in “y”, but I don’t see the L on the schedule. This was an offense I wanted shares of in the offseason and I’m going to continue to run them out there with confidence. Goedert for sure deserves more praise for his safe floor, and I think the touchdowns are coming. Eagles have 10 rushing TDs to only 4 passing so far.
3. The Detriot Lions
This team is just straight-up fun and it is a fantasy matchup dream, for both sides. The Lions have the most yards/game and the most points/game on the season. Additionally, they are allowing the most yards/game and the most points/game. This is EXACTLY what you want for fantasy immortality. In DFS formats, make sure you have exposure weekly until things change, and I don’t think it will. The Lions offensive line is awesome, and the defense is putting up as much of a fight as Jalen Ramsey tackling Deebo Monday night. The Lions go to New England in week 5 for what should continue the trend of being a Big 12 type game and then have their bye in week 6. Sadly, I’m guessing D’Andre Swift and the Sun God will miss this matchup unless they return to 100% by Sunday.
2. Breece Hall
This man is already showing out. He has increased his point total each week. He has a TD in 2 of the last 3. He had 19 touches (23 opportunities) last week to Michael Carter’s 11 touches (12 opportunities), and Breece had 78 total yards to Carter’s 29 yards. He was always the far superior prospect and had significantly better draft capital. Much like Thanos, Breece commanding this backfield was inevitable and it seems to be happening quickly. I think he’s already an RB2, for what that means in this Mad Max RB landscape in 2022, and is borderline must-start.
1. I’m Not Worried About Tyreek or Waddle
Look I get it, I really do. It’s Teddy 2 Gloves aka Charlie Checkdown. That said, Tyreek has produced with Alex Smith, Matt Moore, and in his own words, he could put up numbers with YOU being QB. He still got fed when Teddy came in relief Thursday and I don’t see that changing. If anyone suffers from Tua’s absence, which is hopefully short, it’s Waddle. I say this because he’s gotten fewer targets on the season 35 to 43, and I do think the offense is less efficient. However, both these players are YAC monsters who can turn checkdowns into touchdowns at any moment. Tyreek did catch a dragon from Teddy versus Cincy, so there is some hope there. Overall, don’t freak out because the upcoming schedule is nice and even Teddy can produce against the Jets, Vikings, Steelers, and Lions. I hope for Tua’s sake, and at the cost of the Tua slanderers, he’s back no later than the Lions game. That game will be electric!
