Week 5 Adds, Drops, Buys, and Sells
What a week! Week 4 was exhilarating but the turnaround is quick. Waivers are running and we have championship rosters to build. With that in mind, here are the adds, drops, buys, and sells to consider making in Week 5.

Add Mike Boone
Unfortunately, Javonte Williams was lost for the season with a knee injury. That leaves Melvin Gordon as the next man up in the Denver backfield. However, Mike Boone is lurking and needs to be a priority add off the waiver wire this week. Boone has always been a deep dynasty truther for me, going back to his Vikings days so it’s exciting to think he may finally get a shot. He is an exceptional athlete with 4.49 wheels and a 100th-percentile burst score on PlayerProfiler.com. That’s while having decent size at 5-10, 206-pounds. Boone is a good receiver out of the backfield. If you read my Week 3 Fantasy Notebook article, I noted that Boone was already starting to see some work in the passing game. Then, in Week 4, he ran 12 routes to Melvin Gordon’s five and he had a 12-percent target share. The door is open for Boone to have a significant role in an offense that seems to be finding its footing after a rocky start.
Add Tyler Allgeier
Another running back lost to a knee injury in Week 4 was Atlanta’s Cordarrelle Patterson. Luckily for him, it won’t be as lengthy as Javonte Williams, but we can still expect to be without Patterson until at least November. That puts rookie Tyler Allgeier into the RB1 chair for the time being. Allgeier was already performing well as a compliment to Patterson. Now his opportunities will increase in what has been a sneaky good Falcons offense. He’ll have some competition, but with an all-purpose skill set, Allgeier could become a weekly RB2 in fantasy football. He is worth a significant FAAB bid.
Sell Rashaad Penny
It took a historically bad Lions defense for Rashaad Penny to finally reach double-digit fantasy points. Yet, he’s still not getting work in the passing game and Kenneth Walker’s snap share continues to rise (up to 36-percent in Week 4).
Buy Miles Sanders
The touchdown drought is officially over. After not finding the end zone a single time in 2021, Sanders scored once in Week 1 and twice in Week 4. He has also reached 80 rushing yards in three of four games despite a shift in offensive philosophy to favor the pass. That included a season-best 134 yards on 27 carries in Week 4. But what makes Sanders a sure buy-high candidate, is his surprising uptick in passing game usage. Sanders has had a double-digit target share in two of the last three weeks. He ran a route on 50-percent of Jalen Hurts’ drop backs in Week 4. Fantasy gamers in general have a negative bias towards Sanders so he’s not your typical “buy-high” as his managers are likely skeptical of his Week 4 performance. Take advantage.
Buy Devin Singletary
After Week 1, it looked like Devin Singletary could wind up in a full-blown backfield committee with Zack Moss and rookie James Cook. But since then, Cook has struggled and Moss has been phased out. That’s resulted in Singletary’s snap share skyrocketing over the last two weeks from about 57-percent over the first two games to 73-percent and 88-percent in Weeks 3 and 4. Most importantly, he’s being utilized at the goal line and in the passing game. In fact, Singletary has had a double-digit target share in three-straight games (14% in Week 4). If you need steady production in your RB2 spot, Singletary can be your guy.
Add/Buy George Pickens
I talked about George Pickens in this article last week. I advised you to continue to stash him on your roster. This week, we’re taking it to the next level and recommending you go get him if you don’t have him. The indicators were there after the first three weeks and then he came out and caught six balls for 102 yards in Week 4. He was top-3 in the league in air yards and Pickens has now had target shares of 22-percent and 31-percent over the last two weeks. He only ran three fewer routes than Chase Claypool against the Jets while commanding six more targets. The change from Mitchell Trubisky to Kenny Pickett at quarterback can only help the young stud wide receiver.
Drop Greg Dortch
Greg Dortch manned the slot in the first few weeks while the Cardinals awaited the return of Rondale Moore. Dortch played decent in those three games but he was tossed aside upon Moore’s return in Week 4. Dortch’s snap share cratered to 36% to Moore’s 86%. His target share shrunk to 3-percent. It’s over. Dortch can be safely dropped.
Buy Christian Kirk
Christian Kirk was excellent in his first month as a Jaguar. However, he disappointed with just two receptions for 60 yards in Week 4. Actually, the whole Jacksonville offense was out of sync against the Eagles. With that said, Kirk still hit a season-high 39-percent target share which was second best on the week among all wide receivers. Kirk has managed to reach a target share of at least 20-percent in every game and he holds a 26.9-percent share for the season. He has been making plays down the field, commanding targets, and scoring touchdowns. The Jaguars offense will get back on track with games against the Texans, Colts, and Giants coming up. Buy the dip on Kirk while you can.
Buy DK Metcalf
D.K. Metcalf is a buy-high after posting 149 yards on seven receptions in Week 4. He finished second on the week in air yards (159, 49.8-percent team share). While that was by far his best game of the season, Metcalf has been getting targeted at a high rate all season. In fact, he’s had target shares of at least 25-percent in three of four games. Assuming Geno Smith continues to play well and the team lets him keep passing, Metcalf will produce as a WR2 with boom weeks.
Add Isiah Pacheco
Chiefs rookie running back Isaiah Pacheco has played well when given the opportunity. He has crested a snap share of at least 21-percent in two of three games. That number is likely to rise as the season goes along. It may never become enough to give him stand-alone value, but he’s the top candidate to get the early-downs and red zone work if anything were to happen to Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Pacheco is an intriguing stash in leagues where you have an available roster spot.
Add Rachaad White
Rachaad White is another intriguing stash with massive upside if anything were to happen to Leonard Fournette. White’s snap share shot up to 38-percent in Week 4 while he ran a route on 32.7% of Tom Brady’s drop backs. He’s a good athlete and an exceptional receiver out of the backfield. He may be the most valuable handcuff in fantasy football.
Add Skyy Moore
Skyy Moore’s snaps have steadily risen over the last three weeks. They hit a season-high 28-percent in Week 4 while he ran a route on more than a quarter of Patrick Mahomes’ drop backs. This is a stash and see in leagues where you have an open roster spot.
