Dolphins VS Bengals DRAFTKINGS SHOWDOWN
Showdown Captain mode is a DraftKings tournament where you have $50,000 to create a lineup using 6 players from a standalone single game. One of those players will be your captain. The captain costs 1.5 times their salary and will accumulate 1.5 times the points. As with every slate, GAME THEORY IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. Even more so in Showdown, you want your lineup to tell a story of how the game will go. There are a lot of options based on how you see the game going but ALWAYS make sure there’s correlation between your players.
Dolphins vs Bengals
Spread: Bengals -4
Over/Under: 47

Joe Mixon– dealing with an ankle injury. Zac Taylor has said he’s good to go but it’s worth monitoring.

Jaylen Waddle- missed practice with a groin injury
Tua Tagovailoa- is dealing with back and ankle injuries
Overview
The Miami Dolphins head to Cincinnati to face the Bengals for our Week 4 Thursday Night Matchup. The Dolphins are coming off an emotional win where the barely defeated the Bills. They could be in a hangover spot playing on a short week. The Bengals were gifted a get right game defeating the Jets by 15 points.
Miami has scored 27.7 points per game and allowed 21.3 points per game. They’ve allowed 297 passing yards per game which is 2nd most in the league. They’ve only allowed 55 rushing yards per game which is the best in the league.
The Bengals have scored 21.3 points per game and have allowed 18.3 points per game. They’ve allowed 227 passing yards per game while allowing 86 rushing yards per game. The passing numbers are a bit skewed considering they played, Trubisky, Cooper Rush and Joe Flacco.
This game has plenty of fantasy viable plays, the problem from a showdown standpoint is any one of the position players could outscore their teammates on a one game slate. With that in mind I will have mostly equal shares of Hill/Waddle and Chase/Higgins as my captains. Normally on a one game slate I’d say Boyd is in play but considering he just outscored the other two I think that could be a popular play so I’ll only use him at flex. I’ll also only use the QBs at flex since it’s more likely that one of their pass catchers will outscore them and QBs are generally more popular at captain.
I really do think this could be a letdown game for Miami but that’ll likely be the public sentiment. I’ll be heavier on the pass catchers for each team. I will play some Mixon but likely won’t have him in the same lineup as the Miami RBs. I prefer Moster over Edmonds but you’re really flipping a coin. If I’m playing a defense it’ll be Miami and I prefer McPherson over Sanders in the kicking game.
Captain/Flex
JaMarr Chase $16,500/$11,000
Chase has a 28.5% target share. He has the 3rd most redzone targets through three weeks. He already has seven career games with at least 22 Draftkings points.
Tyreek Hill $16,200/$10,800
Tyreek only had two catches for 33 yards last week but he’s still averaging 106 yards per game. He’s continually shown his slate breaking upside and will likely be my highest owned captain.
Jaylen Waddle $15,300/$10,200
I expect Waddle to be the highest owned Captain and for good reason. He’s averaging 18 yards per reception and is averaging 114 yards per game.
Joe Mixon $13,500/$9,000
Mixon has the 3rd most carries and 2nd most targets among RBs. Miami has allowed five yards a carry which is tied for 4th highest in the league.
Tee Higgins $12,300/$8,200
Higgins has been targeted on a team high 35% of his routes run. Over his last six games of 2021, he outscored Chase in four games. I expect him to be lower owned than Chase, Hill, Waddle and possibly even Tyler Boyd.
The Rest
Joe Burrow $9,600
Despite the slow start, Burrow is still averaging 22 Draftkings points per game. Miami has allowed the most fantasy points to QBs so far this year.
Tua Tagovailoa $9,400
Tua is dealing with some injuries on a short week. With how condensed the pass game is for Miami, I’ll mainly be playing the pass catchers by themselves but will sprinkle in some Tua.
Boyd can be the WR 1 for this team on any given week which he showed last week. The regency of this and the savings make him a good play but I won’t use him as captain. Miami has allowed 24 points per game to the slot. Boyd has lined up in the slot on 160 of his 178 snaps this season.
Chase Edmonds $6,200
Raheem Mostert $4,400
It is very hard to determine who the playbis in this game. Edmonds had the two TDs last week but both are even in redzone touches on the season. Mostert has 24 carries and 6 targets, Edmonds has 23 carries and 8 targets so far. Most people will go with Mostert for the savings but both are viable.
Hayden Hurst $5,400
Hurst is tied for the 7th most receptions for TEs. He’s run the 3rd most routes among TEs. Miami has allowed the 5th most points per game to TEs.
Mike Gesicki $5,000
Gesicki is an athletic freak and has TD upside thats about it. He has 1 TD so far and has caught all six of his targets this year.
Samaje Perine $7,400
Perine is priced up with Mixon banged up on a short week. He can actually be leverage in Burrow stacks for large field GPPs. Also if Mixon is forced to miss any time he could be a smash play.
Jason Sanders $3,800
Evan McPherson $3,600
With a lack of value, both kickers are in play for this game. I prefer McPherson but wouldn’t use both in the same lineup.
Durham Smythe $2,800
Smythe has played 20 more snaps than Gesicki and the same amount of targets.
Trent Sherfield $1,400
Just an absolute punt if you need savings. He did play 63% of the snaps last week.
