Injuries to Monitor
Harrison Bryant- has missed practice this week dealing with both thumb and thigh injuries and is listed as questionable.
Jadeveon Clowney is out for this game and Myles Garrett has been missing practice. Their impact is important to the Cleveland Defense and Garrett’s status should be monitored.
Overview
After last week’s great matchup we get a Thursday Night snore fest. The Pittsburgh Steelers head to Cleveland to face the Browns. The Steelers who are 1-1 have averaged 18.5 points per game through their 1st two contests. The 1-1 Browns have averaged an impressive 28 points per game.
I am fading Mitchell Trubisky. He’s thrown at least 33 times in back to back games and failed to throw for 200 yards in both. I think there is a legit chance he gets replaced in this game.
I expect this game to be slower paced and ugly. Over the last two seasons these two teams have averaged 39 combined points per game when facing each other. With that being said the kickers and defenses are definitely in play in this one. I will actually build lineups with both Hunt and Chubb and the CLE defense in hopes the game is ugly. I will sprinkle in the Brissett in case I’m wrong but won’t rely heavily on either passing game. Even in a lower scoring game the points per reception could go a long way for the receivers.
Captain/Flex
Nick Chubb $18,000/$12,000
Last week was his 11th career game with at multiple TDs. He’s had back to back games with at least 20 touches. He easily has the highest upside on the slate and is priced accordingly.
Najee Harris $14,700/$9,800
Harris got 21 opportunities last week despite injury concerns. The Browns have allowed the 2nd most rushing TDs so far this season. In a game that won’t be all that high scoring, Harris’ usage and possibility of a TD make him the most viable PIT captain.
Diontae Johnson $13,800/$9,200
Diontae has back to back games with double digit targets, at least 6 receptions and at least 50 yards. Scoring a TD combined with that stat line would make for a great captain play at this price in this game environment.
Kareem Hunt $11,400/$7,600
Hunt has had 15 touches in each of the first two games. He offers a safe floor because of his passing game usage. He’s actually played four more snaps than Chubb through two games. He flashed the multiple TD upside in week 1.
Amari Cooper $14,100/$9,400
Cooper has a 28% target share after two weeks. While the opportunity may not be there every week, the ability is clearly there. Last week he had 9 receptions for 100 yards and a TD. If there is more passing than expected in this game Cooper is my favorite captain.
The Rest
Jacoby Brissett $8,800
While I won’t be building lineups around Brissett he still could be important even in a lower scoring affair. He’s thrown a TD in each game so far and actually had 43 rushing yards last week.
Pat Freiermuth $7,000
Freiermuth has the 3rd most targets among TEs after two weeks. Seven targets last week and ten the week before. At least 12 Draftkings points in back to back weeks is great for a non elite TE.
Chase Claypool $6,200
Back to back games with at least six targets and four receptions, Claypool even had six rushing attempts in week 1. He’s worth a play in hopes he sees those targets and his redzone presence.
Donovan Peoples Jones $5,400
After 11 targets in week 1, DPJ followed that up with only one last week. He’s a boom or bust player on a run first offense. With that being said he’s flashed upside in the past and is worth a few stabs on a one game slate.
Harrison Bryant $4,600
Bryant is dealing with an injury but if he plays I actually like him better than Njoku. Despite playing 27 less snaps than Njoku, Bryant has two more targets and has been targeted on 44% of his routes run.
David Njoku $5,200
Njoku hasn’t been heavily involved but his athletic ability alone could pay off with a big play or two.
CLE Def $3,800
PIT has thrown on 63% of their passes and they have a horrible offensive line. They will have plenty of opportunities to rattle Trubisky.
PIT Def $4,400
The Browns won’t throw much so it likely caps the upside but they did have four picks and seven sacks in week 1. In a lower scoring game they are usable.
Cade York $4,200
Chris Boswell $4,000
Impossible to predict kickers but both can be used.
George Pickens $4,800
Jaylen Warren $3,200
Neither have been heavily involved but are good for a couple touches at a cheap price. Pickens has a bit more upside with the possibility of a big play.
