Greg Dulcich was a three-star dual sport (football and basketball) athlete coming out of St. Francis High in La Cañada Flintridge, California. After a productive senior season, he earned offers from FCS programs such as San Diego, Eastern Illinois, and Columbia. Dulcich also received a preferred walk-on opportunity with the UCLA Bruins, which he accepted.

After redshirting his 2018 freshman year, he took that time to add weight to his 215lb frame. He saw limited action in 2019, totaling 8 receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown for the whole season. By the spring of 2020, he bulked up to 242 lbs and was given a scholarship by UCLA. In the COVID shortened 2020 season (7 games total), Dulcich led his team in receiving yards with 517, and touchdown receptions at 5, while finishing second in receptions by snagging 26 passes. These efforts granted Dulcich second-team All-Pac-12 honors. Then, in 2021, after a 12 game, 42 reception, 725 yards, 5 touchdown campaign where he led all Pac-12 TEs in receiving, Dulcich was awarded first-team All-Pac-12 honors. Afterward, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and opted out of his senior season with the Bruins to declare for the 2022 NFL draft.

Bottom Line:

Ultimately, Dulcich is a polarizing TE prospect. He’s arguably the best receiving TE in this draft class, thanks to his ability to get open, catch the ball, and break tackles in the open field. Additionally, he’s a threat to opposing defenses due to his route running and big-play potential. Where he disappoints, however, is with his blocking. Barely a serviceable blocker at UCLA, Dulcich would be a liability as a rookie at the next level. DEs easily overpower him and DBs easily run around him. Due to this, he will struggle to see the field on early downs/obvious running situations. Once he gets to the NFL, he could afford to add more functional strength and better his blocking abilities to become a well-rounded TE. As a rookie, he could step in and fill a Mike Gesicki role for an offense (big-slot receiver more than a TE).

Post Draft Analysis:

Greg Dulcich is another weapon in an offense that is already loaded with them. He will be the team’s No.2 pass-catching tight end behind Albert Okwuegbunam. With a receiving corps that consists of Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, and KJ Hamler, it may be a while before Dulcich is someone we can plug into our fantasy lineups.
