START/SIT ASSIST | TRADE CALCULATOR
We are now two weeks into the fantasy football season, and boy has it been a wild ride. Many players whom we thought would be top performers have disappointed while others have rose to the occasion. As we move into a what could be a pivotal week three for many of us out there we are struggling with those tough start and sit questions again. So let’s take a look at a few Start and Sit options for us this week.
Quarterback Start and Sit
Start: Jared Goff (Detroit Lions)
The man everyone was ready to throw away this offseason has come out and lit up the first two weeks in fantasy football. He posted a 37 point performance in week one followed by a 22 point performance in week two. Facing off against the Baltimore Ravens seems like a terrible matchup based on names alone. However this is not true at the moment, the Ravens are hurting on the offensive side and defensive side of the ball. They rank fourth in most points given up the quarterback position this season. Giving up and average of 29.6 fantasy points per game. I expect the Lions to be throwing again this week aas they will be chasing down the Ravens. I can see Jared Goff getting into the QB1 range again in week three.
Sit: Jameis Winston (New Orleans)
Winston came out guns a blazing in week one, he posted a five touchdown game and made most of us believers again. However in week two he returned to what he has always been. He recorded four sacks and threw two interceptions to go along with the sacks. Jameis Winston draws the New England Patriots this week. They are ranked third best in points given up to quarterbacks in PPR formats. THis is not a great matchup for a saints team that is currently struggling to find any receiving options. Along with this they have struggled on the ground as well, this game looks to be a low scoring affair in which I expect Jameis WInston to underperform in again.
Running Back Start and Sit
Start: Chase Edmonds (Arizona Cardinals)
Currently RB18 Chase Edmonds has been the main back in Arizona. James Conner has seen some time however has been far less efficient with his touches. This week the high octane Arizona Cardinals faceoff against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are the tenth worst team giving up 26.9 PPR points to fantasy running backs. This is music to the ears of Chase Edmonds managers, I expect Edmonds to smash bast his RB18 ranking and put up top 12 numbers this week. In the second half of the game I expect to see a lot of the ground game and both Conner and Edmonds will see a ton of work. Edmonds is a must start in all formats.
Sit: Antonio Gibson (Washington Football Team)
One of manys off season darling has definitely struggled early on this season. This could be a hard sit for many due to roster construction, however if you can’t sit him do not expect to much this week. Antonio Gibson faces off against a much improved Buffalo Bills defense. Currently the Bills rank third best against running backs in fantasy points given up. They have allowed and average of 9.2 PPR Points a week to the position. THey also have not allowed an opposing teams running back into the endzone this year. With Antonio Gibson not seeing the passing down work yet his upside is capped in a game that the Football Team could be playing from behind in for most of it. Gibson will struggle to be a RB2 this week unless his usage is increased in the passing game.
Wide Receiver Start and Sit
Start: Marquise Brown (Baltimore Ravens)
The fact many of us faded Marquise Brown may have been a bad move we will turn out to regret. In his first two games he has produced over 21.4 PPR points a week. He is currently WR8 in PPR formats. He has had two games in a row with at least 6 targets and scored a touchdown in both as well. Facing off against the decimated Detroit Lions secondary will be a dream come true for Lamar Jackson and Marquise Brown. The Lions rank 18th in fantasy points given up the the wide receiver position, mainly due to a lack of touchdowns scored against them by wide receivers. However they gave up over 20 PPR points to Davante Adams last week without him scoring a touchdown. I expect Marquise Brown to produce top 12 numbers this week, making him a must start in all formats.
Sit: Robby Anderson (Carolina Panthers)
Last season Anderson emerged as a top 24 option for fantasy football. We hoped he would continue that into 2021, especially after the Panthers reunited him with Sam Darnold. However early on this season Robby Anderson is struggling, he is WR59 in PPR with only 15.5 PPR points. He has only 9 targets in two games and only has 95 yards receiving. This week he is matching up against a better than expected Texans defense. They rank 8th best in points given up to the wide receiver position, averaging only 29.4 PPR points a game. They however struggle against the run 8th worst. This game will be handled through the legs of Christian McCaffrey, this will not allow Anderson to get much going. I expect a finish outside the top 30 this week making hima must sit in many formats.
Tight End Start and Sit
Start: Kyle Pitts (Atlanta Falcons)
The Breakout may finally happen this week folks! Kyle Pitts currently sits as the TE8 with 19.4 PPR points. With the news that Russell Gage will be week to week with an injury we have to assume some of his targets will make there way to the star rookie. He has seen at least 6 targets in both of the first two games. However facing two of the harder defenses in the league made it hard to score points. In last weeks matchup he looked much better and averaged over 14 yards a catch. Now facing off against one of the worst defenses in points allowed to tight ends the New York Giants. They have averaged 21 points to the position per game over the first two weeks. Kyle Pitts will finish as a TE1 in week three, the question is can he get to TE3 overall this week, the opportunity will be there!
Sit: Jonnu Smith (New England Patriots)
The Prize acquisition for the New England Patriots this offseason is off to a terribly slow start. Even though he has seen 5 target in both games he has produced no more than 42 yards in either game, nor scored a touchdown. This week gets no easier as they will face the New Orleans Saints who rank 9th best against tight ends. They average only 8 points a game to the position. Jonnu Smith has yet to even hit 10 PPR points this season. I do not expect this to happen this week making him a must sit this week.
