ADP Movers

As we approach the kick off of the 2021 season, it can mean only one thing – draft time!

That means draft preparation time and trawling through your favourite resources to get the rankings you like to use in your draft. That’s great but rankings alone aren’t going to be enough, you need to understand the Average Draft Position (ADP) of the site that you’ll be drafting on.

Put simply, if one of your favourite players is generally going in round five on the platform you’re drafting then you likely don’t need to take him in round three. Instead, you might want to draft another stud in round three and take your player in round four (just to be sure).

Now let’s look at the biggest risers and fallers on each of the major platforms.

Risers

Tonyan and Henderson find themselves on this list again as they continue to rise up drafts due to the certainty of Aaron Rodgers’ situation and the Cam Akers injury respectively.

After that, we’re starting to see some preseason reaction in ADP with Damien Harris and Logan Thomas benefitting from strong performances, and Tee Higgins gaining a bump from Chase’s rocky preseason to date.

Fantasy football

Lockett and Beckham are likely starting to correct from some earlier negative overreactions and those pesky defenses are still rising.

Fallers

Hunter Henry and Michael Thomas are continuing the injury slide but they are joined by some backup / pass-catching running backs in Pollard, Hines and Jamaal Williams. This could well be a reflection of the confidence starting to go in to the starters as well as some preseason action bringing a dose of reality that these guys are not in line for huge returns.

Baker Mayfield is interesting slide, perhaps the more casual drafters not buying in to his end of season form from 2020. Cole Beasley is less interesting.

ESPN

Risers

Running backs are on the move on ESPN as drafters try to make sense of ambiguous backfields. Chase Edmonds in particular is starting to separate himself as the preferred option in Arizona.

Travis Etienne’s rise will be short-lived as he is now ruled out for the season with injury. Expect to see his ADP plummet and James Robinson’s skyrocket as a result.

They’re joined by a couple of mid-round Tight Ends and a bounce-back in confidence in Devonta Smith now we’ve seen him hit the field after his injury.

Fallers

David Johnson continues his slide down the ESPN ADP following another preseason outing where other running backs stole the show. This time Mark Ingram came out with the early downs work and the team maintains the position for Johnson as the ‘new’ Duke Johnson.

Myles Gaskin took a tumble following the Dolphins shift to a committee in their first pre-season game but I would expect to see this correct back the other way after a strong second game from Gaskin.

Dallas Goedert also continues to feel the effect of Zach Ertz’s continued involvement, and thankfully we’re seeing defenses slide down as they should.

MFL

Risers

MFL ADP movers is the place to be for the middle-round wide receivers who are looking to be their team’s number one. Corey Davis, Marvin Jones and Brandin Cooks are exactly that and could all return some mid-round value.

They’re joined by other receivers including Cooper Kupp and the Steelers guys, most likely a result of a positive outing from Big Ben over the weekend.

One name that jumps out here is Devin Singletary who has flashed in preseason with some potential to take hold of the RB1 spot in Buffalo.

Fallers

Deshaun Watson hasn’t completely gone away yet but he’s getting there, and once again we see the slide from David Johnson.

Tony Pollard is potentially feeling the effects of the renewed Zeke Elliott buzz, while Michael Carter and Latavius Murray are finding their RB rooms are getting a little overcrowded.

Sleeper

Risers

There’s no need to draft defenses earlier than your last couple of picks so I personally hate to see them occupy the two biggest riser spots.

For the second week in a row we have a few Quarterbacks moving up the Sleeper draft boards as drafters look to lock up that spot earlier and earlier.

Michael Pittman and AJ Dillon are interesting inclusions here. Pittman should be benefiting from some increased confidence in the return of Wentz and a likely overcorrection that saw him sitting a little too low on draft boards previously. Dillon has showed some nice flashes in preseason as he begins to gather momentum heading in to week one.

Fallers

Sleeper’s ADP Fallers is a tough one to interpret. Kenneth Gainwell has always been a secondary option in the Eagles backfield but perhaps the inclusion of Boston Scott with the starters in preseason is starting to scare people away from the rookie.

Nelson Agholor is most likely affected by the rise of Jakobi Meyers as the favourite target in New England.

I’m not completely sure why Rondale Moore has fallen so much. Moore has actually looked really good in preseason so would have expected there to be a boost in value but with him previously going in the 12th round, maybe there’s a natural correction occurring.
