2021 Rookie Sleeper Targets

Fantasy football leagues are won with depth no matter what league you play in. This depth can be obtained through wavier wire targets, trades or the draft. However you can find some of this depth late in the draft or the first wavier run after the draft. I have complied a list of a few players from each position that are not being talked about enough. These players could be the key for your dynasty team. Lets get into it and help you build that dynasty!

Quarterback

Davis Mills- Stanford

2021 rookie sleeper Pro Day Results:

  • Height: 6-3
  • Weight: 217 pounds
  • Arm Length: 31 3/8″
  • Hand Size: 9 1/2″
  • 40-yard: 4.78 sec.
  • Vertical Jump: 32″
  • Broad Jump: 110″
  • Short Shuttle: 4.40 sec.
  • 3-Cone: 6.96 sec.

Mills finished top five in all passing categories in the Pac-12 this past season. He has produced back to back 1500 yard passing seasons in an offense that is ran through the run game. This paired with his combination of a strong arm and good accuracy has not gone unnoticed by the NFL. There are rumor’s around that he has been climbing up draft boards around the league. Most likely he will need time to develop in the league but he has all the tools that the second tier rookies have. Before you take players like Kellen Mond, Kyle Trask or Jamie Newman take a look at Mills he may be available a round later or for free off the wavier wire and holds the same promise.

Sam Ehlinger- Texas

2021 rookie sleeper Pro Day Results:

  • Height: 6-1
  • Weight: 222 pounds
  • Vertical Jump: 36.5″
  • Broad Jump: 114″

Ehlinger playing out of Texas has had two 3000 yard passing seasons and was on pace for a third this past season. He has shown good decision making, strong accurate arm and an ability to lead his team. These good traits show up in his 3 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio. Along with this, he has finished top 10 in the Big-12 in all passing categories for the past four years. He also led the Big-12 in 2019 in passing touchdowns with 32, which was good enough for 10th in the NCAA. I like the promise Ehlinger shows, he will need a good situation to truly succeed though. If this happens I can see a route to success at the next level for him.

Running back

Gerrid Doaks- Cincinnati

2021 rookie sleeper Pro Day Results:

  • Height: 5-11
  • Weight: 228 pounds
  • Hand size: 9 3/4″
  • Arm Length: 31″
  • Wing Span: 77 3/4″
  • 40-yard: 4.58 sec.
  • Vertical Jump: 39.5″
  • Broad Jump: 120″
  • Short Shuttle: 4.27 sec.
  • 3-Cone: 7.20 sec.
  • Bench Press: 19 reps.

Doaks has not been super impressive statistically in the past three years playing at Cincinnati, however he was playing behind Micheal Warren. However in his limited touches he has averaged 5.2 yards per carry and over 11 yards per reception. These are two very solid stat lines and the tape backs it up. He shows good explosiveness, power and good vision. On top of this he has a good ability to make players miss in the open field. I think if he can land in a good spot in the draft and get an opportunity he will find a role in the NFL.

Wide Receiver

Jalen Camp- Georgia Tech

Pro Day Results:

  • Height: 6-2
  • Weight: 226 pounds
  • 40-yard: 4.43 sec.
  • Vertical Jump: 40″
  • Broad Jump: 127″
  • Short Shuttle: 4.16 sec.
  • 3-Cone: 7.02 sec.
  • Bench Press: 30 reps.

Camp was not super productive at Georgia Tech however in his limited opportunities he has shown big play ability. He holds a career average of 17.1 yards per reception. This past season as a red shirt senior he finally had a healthy season and produced 417 yards and added 4 touchdowns these both led the team. He has good size, strength and is a good route runner. His statical numbers come more from a lack of talent around him and injury than his talent. When given the opportunity at the next level I feel he will seize the moment and become a fantasy relevant player.

Simi Fehoko- Stanford

Pro Day Results:

  • Height: 6-3
  • Weight: 222 pounds
  • Hand Size: 10 1/4″
  • Arm Length: 31 5/8″
  • 40-yard: 4.42 sec.
  • Vertical Jump: 35″
  • Broad Jump: 120″
  • Short Shuttle: 4.23 sec.
  • 3-Cone: 6.86 sec.
  • Bench Press: 16 reps

Fehoko has show great hand eye coordination and big play ability playing out of Stanford. He led the Pac-12 in 2019 in yards per reception with an average of 23.6 yards per. This was produced on 24 receptions which was sixth on the team. This past season he produced a team leading 574 yards while averaging 15.5 yards per reception. At the next level he can use his size and good contested catch ability to succeed. He has show great ability in limited touches, if he is able to get more opportunities in the NFL he will surprise many people.

Tight End

Quintin Morris- Bowling Green

  • Height: 6-2
  • Weight: 243 pounds
  • Hand Size: 10 3/8″
  • Arm Length: 33 1/8″
  • 40-yard: 4.60 sec
  • Vertical Jump: 34″
  • Broad Jump: 119″
  • Short Shuttle: 4.55 sec.
  • 3-Cone: 7.12 sec.
  • Bench Press: 22 reps.

Morris playing in the MAC produced two 500 plus receiving yard seasons, and averaged over 12 yards per reception. This past season the MAC only played 5 games, he produced 248 yards in this time and was on pace to break 500 again for the third straight season. His touchdown production had dipped this season, however he had a seven touchdown season in 2018. Morris runs decent routes, tracks the ball well, and is great in contested catch situations. He also shows the ability to play on the end of the line and out wide. With the state of the position at the NFL level he is a player worth taking a flier on late in your drafts.
