2020 Fantasy Football: Must Draft Players On New Teams
Each season we looking for new fantasy players to draft.
The offseason often helps us determine new players to target.
How so?
Well, we find ourselves looking at old faces in new places. This creates new and exciting prospects from a fantasy football perspective.
With that said, let’s look at four fantasy players to draft players who have changed teams and will win you a fantasy football title.
QB: Cam Newton, New England Patriots
One of the four fantasy players to draft is Newton.
When Newton has played a full season, the former MVP has never finished below QB4.
Now, Newton is paired with the best coach, Bill Belichick, in the modern era.
Stop the presses: Newton has replaced New England legend, quarterback Tom Brady.
Despite a shaky offensive unit around him, Newton is an excellent candidate to bounce back in 2020 and be a strong fantasy option. Assuming he’s healthy, Newton has a strong arm and is a great mind at the quarterback position. On top of that, the wide receiver room is made up of Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, and Mohamed Sanu, as well as James White, a strong receiving running back.

The weapons aren’t world-beaters, but there is some talent there.
Newton may not be the MVP he used to be, but Belichick and the Patriots knew what they were doing when they signed him.
Not only will Newton be throwing at full strength again, but he will also have a strong rushing upside. Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels drafted Tim Tebow in the first round during his stint with the Denver Broncos as head coach. No, McDaniels hasn’t had a rushing quarterback while in New England, but the prototype is not foreign to him. Newton’s rushing ability is well-known, and McDaniels is just the coach to be able to use that to the team’s advantage, as well as yours.
FantasyPros ADP: QB21
RB: Todd Gurley, Atlanta Falcons
Gurley has won fantasy leagues single-handedly before.
In both 2017 and 2018, he was a top-three PPR running back option. In standard scoring, he repeated as the RB1 during that stretch.
While his knees are an injury concern, he still played 15 games in 2019 and finished as the PPR RB14.

Now he’s in Atlanta with a new contract and a chip on his shoulder. While he likely won’t have 90-percent of the backfield snaps due to health concerns, Gurley will undoubtedly be the lead back. When he’s on the field, he’ll be a powerful option in this offense. Fellow running back Devonta Freeman saw 70 targets in 2019, and Gurley should see a similar number to that, close to the numbers of 81 and 87 that he saw during his two-year reign as the best running backs in the league.

That receiving upside, mixed with his career-long affinity to find the end zone, Gurley could be a high-end running back again in 2020 and will definitely outperform his cost.
FantasyPros PPR ADP: RB16
WR: Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans
In 2020, Cooks will step into an offense that has DeShaun Watson at quarterback. Yet, the biggest bonus is perhaps the departure of fellow wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
However, the sleight Cooks should be able to step into the lead wide receiver shoes easily and fill the role that Hopkins vacated. Cooks has been a team’s leading receiver before, and lining up against top cornerbacks has never seemed to phase him.

Hopkins saw 150 targets in 2019, and that was his lowest number since 2014. The vacated targets are there for Cooks to step in and shine. The soon-to-be-27-year-old has already finished as a 1,000-yard receiver in four of his six seasons, including four straight until 2019’s injuries and crowded Los Angeles Rams offense slowed him down.
There is some injury risk associated with Cooks as he has suffered six documented concussions. Fortunately, though, he has only missed two games in the last five seasons. While he’s on the field, Cooks is a near-lock to perform like a top-20 wide receiver.

TE: Hayden Hurst, Atlanta Falcons
Rounding out the fantasy players to draft is Hurst. Another new Falcon, Hurst has struggled with some foot injuries and a crowded depth chart his entire career. However, the 26-year-old tight end was a first-round pick back in 2018 for the Baltimore Ravens, and showed flashes. Additionally, quarterback Matt Ryan’s offense has given fellow tight end Austin Hooper more than 85 targets in back-to-back seasons. Hurst will see more targets than ever before with this new opportunity. As a result, this will lead to performing higher than this ADP.
While the rest of the league is spending high draft capital on the like Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller New York Giants tight end Evan Engram, and Rams tight end Tyler Higbee, wait for a few more rounds to grab Hurst. With a ceiling just as high, if you wait, you will get an edge at other positions.
