2025 NFL Week 9 Best Bets

Week 8 in the NFL saw blowout after blowout after blowout. 12 of the 13 games last week were double digit point games, with the lone close game being the first time the Jets won this year. And as the weekend turns to November and we turn the clocks back, we officially will be halfway through the NFL regular season come Monday evening. Here are my week 9 best bets in the NFL.

Week 8: 2-2 (-0.12 units)
Year to Date: 18-12 (+4.65 units)

Los Angeles Chargers (5-3) vs. Tennessee Titans (1-7)

Tennessee +9.5; O/U 43.5

Los Angeles -9.5 (-112)
Under 43.5 (-102)

Since Jim Harbaugh left Ann Arbor for Southern California, the defense has traveled well for the Chargers. They allow just 15.2 PPG in their 12 regular season games, with the under going 8-4. The Titans are just 4-21 since they fired Mike Vrabel at the conclusion of the 2023 season. That also matches their ATS record since the firing, including 0-11 ATS at home. There has been visible frustrations from rookie quarterback Cam Ward with interim head coach Mike McCoy as the offense continues to look for a spark. I’m not sure they find it this week. I’m on the Chargers and the under this week.

Kansas City Chiefs (5-3) vs. Buffalo Bills (5-2)

Buffalo 1.5; O/U 52.5

Under 52.5 (-108)

It’s always appointment television when Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen lace ’em up, and even more enjoyable when it’s on the same field. However, it is not as high scoring as you would think.

The Chiefs and Bills have played five times in the regular season since the start of 2020. In those five matchups, the average score is 46.6 PPG, with only one of the five clearing this point total. This changes in the playoffs; the two quarterbacks combine for an average point total of 63 PPG in their four playoff matchups. I’ll follow the trend and take the under in this matchup of the best quarterbacks in the AFC.

Outright Underdogs (.5 Units):
Week 8: 0-2 (-1.00 units)
Year to Date: 2-12 (-4.78 units)
New York vs. San Francisco +120

The 49ers have been plagued with injuries, and the magic might be wearing off on the Mac Jones experience. The Niners have lost two of their last three, with both losses coming on the road. While Christian McCaffrey has been back to an All-Pro level this year, I’m on the G-Men to win this one.

Buffalo vs. Kansas City +110

While Josh Allen and the Bills have seen their season end in four of the last five years to the Chiefs, they are 4-1 in the regular season going back to 2020. I’ll take Allen and the Bills as home dogs.
