2025 College Football Conference Championship Best Bets

Conference Championship weekend is here. Only nine games separate us from selection Sunday and having the 12-team playoff bracket revealed. A couple of conference championship games will have seismic shifts across that 12-team field. Here are my college football conference championship best bets.

Big 12 Championship (Arlington, Texas)

#11 BYU (11-1) vs. #4 Texas Tech (11-1)

Texas Tech -12.5; O/U 49.5

Under 49.5 (-112)

We saw Texas Tech dominate this one in the regular season, defeating the Cougars 29-7. It was a regular performance for the Red Raiders, as they allowed just 11.1 PPG in conference play. Now, BYU could be without their top receiver Chase Roberts for the second straight week. For Texas Tech, they should be in the 12-team playoff regardless of the outcome. It will just be determined if they keep their first round bye, or host a game in Lubbock. I’m on the under to cash in this one.

Big Ten Championship (Indianapolis, Indiana)

#2 Indiana (12-0) vs. #1 Ohio State (12-0)

Ohio State -4; O/U 47.5

Ohio State -4 (-110)
Under 47.5 (-108)

A lot has changed since last year’s game in Columbus, where the Buckeyes won 38-15. The over cashed in that one, but only because a muffed punt by the Hoosiers placed the Buckeyes on the seven-yard line, and Ryan Day decided to run up the score with 35 seconds remaining when the Buckeyes were up 31-15.

Both of these teams are better than they were a year ago. Ohio State’s defense under Matt Patricia has not allowed more than 16 points all season, and only allowed a team to hit double digits three times. Julian Sayin is more than worthy of a trip to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. And while the Buckeyes lost two backs to last year’s NFL Draft, the ground game has stayed steady with a three headed monster led by Bo Jackson. For Indiana, Mendoza is setting school records on his way to a Heisman Trophy worthy season. The duo of Elijah Sarratt and Omar Cooper is a top-5 receiver duo in the country. And the defense has improved after a great 2024.

Ultimately, I don’t believe Indiana has the guys to pull away from Ohio State. Heck, no one has since they lost to Michigan last year. The Buckeyes are 14-1-1 ATS since last year’s Michigan loss, with the 2025 season opener being the only one decided by single digits. I expect this game to be closer than last year’s, with Ohio State winning and the under cashing.
