Now that the 2020 NFL fantasy season has come and gone, I would like to breakdown the 2020 rookie draft class and provide a two-round Dynasty Rookie Draft “Redo”. This class may go down as one of the deepest classes in recent memory and provided some great value. Collectively, this rookie class provided fantasy managers with 21 Top-12 QB weeks, 29 Top-12 RB weeks, and 20 Top-12 WR weeks. This class also provided us with one Top-12 season-long finish at QB (Herbert), two at RB (Taylor and Robinson), and one at WR (Jefferson). This is based on PPR scoring and 1QB format. So, let’s get into it!
1.01- Jonathan Taylor, RB Indianapolis Colts.
2020 Fantasy Finish: RB6
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.02
Taylor accumulated 232 carries for 1169 yards and 11 TDs as well as 36 receptions for 299 yards and another TD on 39 targets. Taylor struggled in the early part of the season reading blocks and finding the proper hole to maximum yardage. There is no questioning his talent, but Taylor just needed some time to adjust to the flow of the NFL pace of play. Once he found his footing, Taylor dominated the second half of the season with 741 yards in his final 6 games played. With veteran signal-caller Phillip Rivers retiring, the Colts will likely lean heavily on Taylor in 2021 and beyond. I currently have Taylor as my dynasty RB5 and the sky is the limit for this kid. He should perennially be in the conversation for the best pure runner in football. This is a no-brainer for the 1.01!
1.02- Justin Jefferson, WR Minnesota Vikings.
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR6
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.09
After dominating in the college ranks Jefferson came out of the woodwork and enjoyed one of the most prolific rookie seasons in the history of the NFL. While most fantasy managers were focusing on Lamb and Jeudy, Jefferson slipped to the second half of most rookie drafts providing some insane value. He racked up 88 receptions for 1400 yards and 7 TDs on 125 targets in what most would consider a run-first offense. Jefferson had seven games over 100 yards this past season and showed instant chemistry with Kirk Cousins. Jefferson should be firmly entrenched in the top-12 WR conversation for the next handful of years. I currently have him ranked as my dynasty WR6 but he has the talent to quickly ascend to the top-3 territory with another superb 2021 season.
1.03- DeAndre Swift, RB Detroit Lions.
2020 Fantasy Finish: RB18
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.03
Many fantasy managers had D’Andre Swift as the 2020 RB1 pre-NFL draft. With an unfortunate landing spot, most dropped Swift in their ranks (myself included). After splitting work with Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson, Swift broke out of a timeshare and handled a majority of the work down the stretch for Detroit. He finished the season with 114 carries for 521 yards and 8 rushing TDs. The most appealing part of his game is his receiving ability where Swift gathered 46 receptions for 357 yards and 2 touchdowns on 57 targets. There is some uncertainty with the QB situation for the Lions in 2021, but there is no doubt who the starting RB is.
Swift should have a nice bump in production in 2021 with the team’s signing of Dan Campbell as Head Coach. Coach Campbell wants to use Swift similarly to how the Saints have used Alvin Kamara in New Orleans. This is welcomed news to fantasy managers who took the risk on Swift early in rookie drafts. Coach Campbell has also brought on Anthony Lynn and Deuce Staley to help round out his staff. Both of these coaches will help Swift as a fantasy asset. The Lions could also be losing starting wideouts Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. this offseason. If so, look for Swift to be more of a focal point of the offense in his second year. I currently have Swift as my dynasty RB9 with tremendous upside. He could flirt with 100 targets in the passing game, resulting in some awesome potential in PPR formats.
1.04- Antonio Gibson, RB Washington Football Team.
2020 Fantasy Finish: RB13
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 2.09
Gibson was one of the most puzzling prospects for the 2020 NFL draft. He was a running back with very little use as an actual running back. The Memphis product was not expected to have a crucial role in the offense but with the arrest and suspension of starter Derrius Guice, the door swung open for Gibson. He finished the 2020 NFL season with 170 carries for 795 yards and 11 rushing TDs. Gibson’s upside lies with how fluid he is as a receiver where he totaled 36 receptions for 247 yards and 0 TDs on 44 targets. Shockingly the WFT decided to use JD McKissic on passing downs in 2020 (80 receptions on 110 targets).
If and when Gibson supplants McKissic as the true third-down back, Gibson should be a consistent RB1 for the years to come. He is currently my dynasty RB12 after a strong rookie season. The potential of Gibson is truly unknown, but any fantasy manager should be happy to roster such a dynamic playmaker.
1.05- CeeDee Lamb, WR Dallas Cowboys.
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR22
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.06
Lamb was arguably the most desirable rookie WR in this year’s class and he showed why in his first six games of the season. He showed instant rapport with Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. Unfortunately for Lamb truthers and the Dallas Cowboys, Prescott suffered a season-ending injury in Week 5. After the Prescott injury, Lamb struggled with consistency and was not trustworthy for fantasy purposes. Lamb still managed to catch 74 balls for 935 yards and 5 TDs on 111 targets. Lamb also added 10 rushes for 82 yards and another TD.
CeeDee Lamb is an electric young WR with the tremendous ability with the ball in his hands. Lamb is in a crowded WR-room but ultimately, talent reigns supreme. With Gallup’s contract up after 2021 and Amari Cooper inconsistencies, it could only be a matter of time before Lamb is the lone wolf in Dallas. Managers should be patient with the development of Lamb. He will become a star, it’s just a matter of time at this point. He is my dynasty WR9 currently, and much like Jefferson, he has the upside of a top 5 asset! 2021 could be a bumpy road for fantasy purposes but weathering the storm will be crucial for your dynasty team.
1.06- Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB Kansas City Chiefs.
2020 Fantasy Finish: RB22
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.01
Edwards-Helaire was the lone first-round RB taken in the NFL draft this past April. Most fantasy managers bumped CEH to the 1.01 based on talent and landing spot. CEH came out firing in Week 1 rushing for 138 yards, fueling the hype train to an unprecedented level. Most were anointing CEH as a top-3 dynasty RB. Unfortunately, the remainder of the fantasy season didn’t quite meet expectations. He finished with 181 carries for 803 yards and just 4 TDs. He also caught 36 passes for 297 yards and a score on 54 targets. CEH struggled to find the endzone in a highflying offense due to the efficiency of teammates Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.
Edwards-Helaire is a very versatile player that has better days ahead. Andy Reid is a fantasy RB whisperer and CEH fits the mold of his previous backs. Edwards-Helaire has the talent and profiles to succeed at the NFL, we just need to patient. I currently have CEH as the dynasty RB14.
1.07- JK Dobbins, RB Baltimore Ravens
2020 Fantasy Finish: RB23
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.04
Dobbins was buried on the depth chart behind Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards for the early part of the 2020 season. He didn’t garner double digits carries until Week 8. He overcame this and became one of the most efficient runners in the league, taking 134 carries for 805 yards and 9 TDs as well as 18 receptions for 120 yards on 24 targets. Dobbins finished as a low-end RB2 in a run-heavy Baltimore offense. Fantasy managers should be licking their chops for the 2021 season.
Mark Ingram has been released and Gus Edwards is set to test Free Agency (RFA) in 2021. Dobbins is expected to handle a majority of the RB carries for the Ravens in ’21 but his upside could be limited by his QB. It’s well-known that Lamar Jackson will vulture a good number of rushing TDs from his running backs, and Dobbins will be no exception. I don’t think Dobbins will ever be a huge volume rusher that gets 300 rushes and 15 TDs, but his efficiency is very appealing. Look for Dobbins to be in the high-end RB2 conversation for many years to come. Dobbins is my RB15 for dynasty purposes and should be deployed as a high upside back!
1.08 Tee Higgins, WR Cincinnati Bengals.
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR28
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 2.01
The Bengals transformed their offense with the selection of Joe Burrow with the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, which we will discuss later. A QBs best friend is a big-bodied WR that can make contested catches. Well, look no further than Tee Higgins. The Bengals snatched the Clemson product in the early second round and Higgins never looked back. He caught 67 passes for 908 yards and 6 TDs on 108 targets while playing in all 16 games. Higgins thrived making acrobatic catches deep downfield for the Bengals and likely would have had even better production if his signal-caller hadn’t suffered a season-ending torn ACL.
Higgins’s value will likely increase if AJ Green and John Ross do not return to the team next season. If Joe Burrow can return as the starter by the start of the 2021 season, this would be a huge boost to Higgins as well. Tyler Boyd is a solid option in the passing game, but he isn’t the big-play and touchdown threat that Higgins is. I fully expect Higgins to improve on his production for the upcoming season. He is currently my WR14 for dynasty and should push for WR1 numbers in ’21. The Burrow to Higgins connection will be a dynamic duo for the next handful of years.
1.09- James Robinson, RB Jacksonville Jaguars.
2020 Fantasy Finish: RB7
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: N/A
Every year, we get a splash from some UDFA that pops up on the fantasy radar. James Robinson took this to a completely different level. The Illinois State product recorded the most yardage from scrimmage ever for an undrafted rookie, with 1414 yards! He took advantage of the vacancy Leonard Fournette left in the Jaguars backfield. Robinson racked up 240 carries for 1070 yards and 7 TDs and add 49 receptions for 344 yards and 3 TDs through the air. Robinson finished as the RB7 in fantasy and won many managers championships. He will go down as one of the best waiver wire additions ever.
The Jags secured the first overall pick for the 2021 draft and barring any surprises, I imagine Trevor Lawrence will be his new signal-caller. Urban Meyer has been brought in as Head Coach and he has a history of developing young backs like Ezekiel Elliott, JK Dobbins, and Carlos Hyde.
The Jaguars offense will look drastically different next season, but we cannot argue the talent of James Robinson. My main concern, and the reason I have Robinson so low, is his lack of draft capital and salary tied to the young RB. If Coach Meyer wants to add a back in the draft or free agency, the team will already have more invested in the new back than they do in Robinson. If the Jags make it through FA and the draft without adding aback, then Robinson will skyrocket up my rankings. He is currently my RB21 for dynasty but would move into the RB12-15 range if competition isn’t added.
1.10- Cam Akers, RB Los Angeles Rams
2020 Fantasy Finish: RB46
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.05
We all are aware of how terrible Florida States’ offensive line was during Akers’ time as the running back. Yet, Akers still found success and ultimately was selected in the second round to the LA Rams. Akers joined a fairly crowded RB room with Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown. Akers struggled to find the field for the majority of the season. He played in a measly 38% of snaps for the Rams in 2020. He totaled 145 carries for 625 yards and 2 TDs. Akers was limited in the passing game with only 11 receptions for 123 yards and a score on 14 targets. Akers showed a flash in Week 12 against SF, totaling 84 yards on 9 carries, including a TD.
After this explosion, Akers handled the starting role in part to an injury to Henderson. He will likely enter his second NFL season in the same role. The Rams offensive line was one of the worst units in the NFL in terms of run blocking, something Akers is accustomed to now. Look for the Rams to address this in the upcoming draft. Akers is currently my dynasty RB17. He is still only 21 years old and will take time to adjust to the NFL level. Akers could make a drastic jump in 2021 if he is afforded the opportunity.
1.11- Brandon Aiyuk, WR San Francisco 49ers.
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR35
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 2.03
Aiyuk was one of the lesser-known wideouts in the 2020 rookie class playing in the Pac-12 on a less than stellar Arizona State squad. But this didn’t stop the 49ers from selecting him as the sixth WR off the board in the first round. Aiyuk joined Deebo Samuel and a host of other reserve receivers in San Fran. Aiyuk totaled 60 receptions for 748 yards and 5 receiving touchdowns on 96 targets as well as 6 rushes for 77 yards and 2 additional TDs.
Kyle Shanahan is an innovative offensive coach that loves to get his playmakers the ball in space. Aiyuk was a huge benefactor of this aspect of the SF offense. Another key part of Aiyuk’s success was the nagging injuries to superstar George Kittle. There were many games where Aiyuk was truly the only option for the 49ers. 2021 should allow for Aiyuk to operate in more single-coverage scenarios where he can use his wide array of skills to rack up fantasy points. With the uncertainty of Jimmy Garoppolo’s contract situation, Aiyuk could be catching passes from a new QB next season. This should provide a boost as well. Aiyuk is currently my dynasty WR23. He is a highly efficient wideout in a high-powered offense. Look for Aiyuk to be a league winner given his current value for the upcoming season.
1.12- Chase Claypool, WR Pittsburgh Steelers.
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR24
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 2.12
Claypool took the NFL by storm at the NFL Combine showcasing his impressive athletic skills. This performance was a huge factor in the Steelers selecting him in the second round of the draft. Claypool joined a long list of talented Steelers WRs including Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster. The Notre Dame product nabbed 62 catches for 873 yards and 9 TDs on 109 targets. Claypool also added two rushing touchdowns, displaying his versatility in the Steelers’ offense.
There is some risk with Claypool, which is why I have him lower on this list than most. Claypool is a 50/50, big-play threat that will grow into a true alpha WR. He has all the physical tools to succeed at the highest level. There is a chance, although unlikely, that JuJu returns to Pittsburgh, as well as the possibility of Ben Roethlisberger’s retiring. We know how poorly the Mason Rudolph experiment went, and until the Steelers add a competent backup (Dwayne Haskins doesn’t count) Claypool ceiling will be capped. Claypool slots in as my dynasty WR25 and will likely put up high upside WR3 numbers in 2021.
2.01- Michael Pittman, WR Indianapolis Colts
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR79
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 2.04
Michael Pittman was one of my favorite WRs of the 2020 class. He has the size, speed, technique, and college production to profile into a stud, alpha receiver. Unfortunately for his fantasy outlook, he was drafted to the Indianapolis Colts and tied to noodle-armed Philip Rivers. Pittman corralled 40 receptions for 503 yards and 1 score on 61 targets. Pittman battled injuries for the better part of the season and couldn’t find his footing in his first NFL season.
With TY Hilton set to be a free agent, it looks as though Pittman will enter the offseason as the WR1 for the Colts. Rivers has announced his retirement so Pittman will be catching passes from a different signal-caller in 2021. There’s some speculation that fellow 2020 draftee Jacob Eason will be the starter, but my preferred pairing would be Matthew Stafford. There is a multitude of factors to Pittman’s 2021 value, so for the time being I have him as the dynasty WR33. If the Colts bring in a top tier option at QB, look for Pittman’s ADP to rise significantly next summer.
2.02- Jerry Jeudy, WR Denver Broncos
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR47
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.07
Jerry Jeudy came out of Alabama with quite possibly the most insane hype train ever. Jeudy was being talked about as one of the best WR prospects of all-time. Now don’t get me wrong, I liked his tape and his landing spot, but I think it was just a bit overblown. Jeudy struggled mightily in his rookie season part due to Drew Lock’s inabilities. Jeudy caught 52 of 113 targets for 856 yards and only 3 TDs.
Fantasy managers expected Jeudy to operate as the WR2 in Denver but an unfortunate injury to Courtland Sutton thrust Jeudy into the limelight. He struggled to win matchups and even had his fair share of drops (12) in 2020. I compare Jeudy’s rookie struggles to that of now superstar Davante Adams. Jeudy is supremely talented and will eventually get his time to shine for fantasy managers. Adding a healthy Courtland Sutton as his running mate will only make this easier. Jerry Jeudy is my dynasty WR38 and projects as an inconsistent option for 2021 but if he can make strides in his development, I have no issues moving Jeudy up my WR ranks.
2.03- Justin Herbert, QB Los Angeles Chargers
2020 Fantasy Finish: QB9
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 3.04
Justin Herbert was selected as the sixth overall pick in the 2020 draft to the Chargers and most expected him to sit a majority of his rookie campaign. Luckily for fantasy managers, Herbert was thrust into the starting role after an “injury” to, then starter, Tyrod Taylor in Week 2. Herbert never looked back posting multi-touchdown showings in 12 games of his 16 games.
Herbert completed 396 of 595 attempts for 4336 yards and 31 TDs along with 10 interceptions. He has a big arm and surprising mobility for his size highlighted by his five rushing TDs. The Oregon product will enter 2021 as the unquestioned starter in LA but could lose starting TE Hunter Henry in free agency. The Chargers will have a new coaching staff led by Brandon Staley, so how the offense will operate is unknown. I expect Herbert to be a high upside option in fantasy with the Chargers likely playing from behind in a majority of games. There is no denying Herbert’s talent and supporting cast with fantasy superstars like Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler. Herbert is my dynasty QB6 and has the opportunity to join the elite echelon of fantasy QBs in 2021.
2.04- Jalen Reagor, WR Philadelphia Eagles
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR92
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.08
Jalen Reagor landed in one of the juiciest spots in the draft, to a WR depleted Eagles squad. Unfortunately for him and his fantasy outlook, Reagor missed five of his first seven games in 2020 which led to the unexpected rise of Travis Fulgham. Reagor never got his footing in his rookie season and did not register more than 55 yards in a game. He finished his rookie season catching 31 of 54 targets for 396 yards and only one touchdown. This is not due to a lack of talent as Reagor was one of the most explosive athletes in all of college football which is why the Eagles took a shot on him in the first round.
With Doug Peterson out and Nick Sirianni in as Head Coach, we aren’t sure who the Eagles QB will be in 2021 but you can almost guarantee the Eagles will bring in some competition for Reagor at the WR position. Reagor is my dynasty WR39 but he has huge upside. The Eagles offense was just about as bad as it gets but if Coach Sirianni can rejuvenate Carson Wentz’s career, Reagor truthers will rejoice. If Jalen Hurts solidifies himself as the starter, they could be in for rough sailing for fantasy purposes.
2.05- Denzel Mims, WR New York Jets
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR106
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 2.02
Denzel Mims was another winner of the NFL Combine. The 6’3 Baylor product showed off his impressive speed clocking a 4.38 second 40-yard dash time and was ultimately selected in the second round by the New York Jets. Mims joined a WR room with newly signed Breshad Perriman and slot veteran Jamison Crowder. Mims endured fantasy hell, much like many Gase led players have, in 2020. He also battled injuries in 2020 only playing in nine games for Gang Green. He totaled 23 receptions on 44 targets for 357 yards and zero scores.
For a majority of the season, Sam Darnold struggled mightily, and the one bright spot was the possibility of landing Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 draft. Barring a disaster with the Jags front office, Lawrence is very unlikely to be available at the second pick. The Jets are expected to add some WR talent in the draft or in free agency with their massive amount of cap space. Look for Mims to improve upon his 2020 numbers with a new coaching staff and possibly a new QB. Mims is my dynasty WR44 and will likely ride the bench for most fantasy managers in 2021. He has the talent and opportunity to be a serviceable fantasy asset but needs to put it all together. He is one of my favorite buy-low WR at the moment.
2.06- Joe Burrow, QB Cincinnati Bengals
2020 Fantasy Finish: QB25
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.12
Joe Burrow took the NCAA by storm and led the LSU Tigers on one of the greatest journeys in college football history. He parlayed his collegiate success into the first overall draft selection to the Bengals in April and headed into his rookie campaign with high hope. He was a fantasy stud for just over half the fantasy season until he tore his ACL Week 11 against WFT.
Burrow the devastating injury Burrow completed 264 of 404 passes for 2688yds and 13 TD against 5 interceptions. He also added 142 yards on the ground and 3 additional scores. Burrow will enter his second NFL season rehabbing his knee and hope to start the season as the signal-caller. He will likely lose veteran and Bengals hero, AJ Green to free agency but should get back a healthy Joe Mixon. Burrow is in a very good fantasy situation on a bad Bengals team that will be throwing the ball at a very high rate. He also has a trio of fantasy studs in Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, and Joe Mixon.
Look for the Bengals to bolster the offensive line to help keep Burrow upright. Burrow is my dynasty QB10 with the potential of jumping guys like Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson with a stellar sophomore campaign. Look to buy Burrow this offseason with the speculation that he won’t be fully healthy for the 2021 season. He will be a fantasy superstar for the years to come.
2.07- Henry Ruggs, WR Las Vegas Raiders
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR95
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 1.11
Henry Ruggs was the first WR selected in the 2020 NFL draft at 12th overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. He enjoyed a prolific career at Alabama and is one of the most physically gifted prospects I have ever had the pleasure of studying. That is about as far as the Ruggs hype train got. He caught only 26 of 43 targets for 452 yards and two touchdowns. TE Darren Waller and Nelson Agholor did a majority of his damage in the passing game for the Raiders.
Ruggs is a true deep threat and ranked second in the NFL on average target distance but Carr struggled to connect with the speedster. He is a boom or bust option for the 2021 season and will likely be a stash for a majority of dynasty rosters. Ruggs’ dynasty success rides on his ability to round out his game to become a more complete wideout. Jon Gruden should also find ways for his young wideout to get the ball in space much like their division rival Chiefs do with Tyreek Hill. Ruggs is my dynasty WR45 with plenty of room to grow.
2.08- Laviska Shenault, WR Jacksonville Jaguars.
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR45
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 2.07
Laviska Shenault was another Pac-12 product that most casual football fans knew very little about. Shenault was drafted to the Jags with the 42nd overall pick and immediately slotted in as the second option behind DJ Chark. Shenault was a home-run threat every time he touched the football during his time at Colorado. Unfortunately for his fantasy production, the Jaguars didn’t use him in the same role. He caught 58 of 79 targets for 600 yards and 5 TDs from the myriad of starting QBs for the Jaguars.
Urban Meyer is the new Head Coach for the Jaguars and he would be smart to manufacture some touched for Shenault to get him in space to showcase his explosiveness. If the NFL goes the way most people think it will go, Trevor Lawrence should be the Jags starting QB which is an immediate boost to Shenault’s value. I currently have Laviska as my WR47 for dynasty and has massive upside. I think we have barely scratched the surface of Shenault’s potential.
2.09- Darnell Mooney, WR Chicago Bears
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR50
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: N/A
Mooney was a small school wideout selected in the fifth round out of Tulane. He joined the Bears squad and quickly worked his way into a role in the offense. It took him just two weeks to play 60% of snaps and never dipped below that number. He eventually passed Anthony Miller as the WR2 on the depth and could take over the alpha role if Allen Robinson leaves in free agency. Mooney was a pleasant surprise for fantasy managers and provided some nice value in several weeks. He totaled 61 catches for 631 yards and 4 TDs on 98 targets. There is a chance the Bears upgrade their QB situation in free agency or the draft, this would provide a nice boost for all Bears pass-catchers. Mooney is my dynasty WR47 and would make a leap if he is thrust into the WR1 role of the Bears offense.
2.10- Tua Tagovialoa, QB Miami Dolphins
2020 Fantasy Finish: QB32
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 2.08
Tua entered 2019 as the favorite to be selected as the first overall pick but after a Joe Burrow explosion and a hip-injury to the Crimson Tide star, Tua fell to the fifth pick in the 2020 NFL draft. Tagovialoa learned the ropes from Ryan Fitzpatrick for the first seven weeks of the season and eventually took over the starting role after the bye week. Tua completed 186 of 290 passes for 1814yds and 11 TD against 5 interceptions. Tagovialoa added 3 rushing TDs to help his fantasy value. Tua endured injuries to almost every one of his skill position players at some point throughout the season.
Look for the Dolphins to add a wideout and running back in the draft or free agency to round out the offense. The ‘Phins could afford to add offensive line help to allow Tagovialoa time to process through reads. Tua is my dynasty QB11 for the time being. I have a feeling he is going to be a much better real-life QB than a fantasy QB. Tagovialoa should continue to be a highly efficient, low volume fantasy producer.
2.11- Gabriel Davis, WR Buffalo Bills
2020 Fantasy Finish: WR57
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 4.11
Gabriel Davis had some success in 2020 mostly due to the monster year from Josh Allen and injuries to Cole Beasley and John Brown. Davis was drafted in the fourth round out of UCF and was not expected to be leaned on in the passing game. He caught 35 of 62 targets for 599 yards and 7 TD for the Bills in 2020. Brown has one year left his deal and Beasley has two years remaining.
With these two tied to the Bills for at least one more year, Gabriel Davis may have to delay his breakout to the 2022 season, but it would not surprise me if he slowly eats into the snaps of the previously mentioned veterans. Davis is my dynasty WR50 and will take some time to develop into a reliable fantasy asset but as long as Davis is tied to Josh Allen, he will have game-breaking potential. Davis is one of my favorite buy-low targets for the 2021 offseason.
2.12- Jalen Hurts, QB Philadelphia Eagles
2020 Fantasy Finish: QB36
May ADP via DynastyLeagueFootball: 4.07
Jalen Hurts was a bit of a surprise for most fantasy managers. He was expected to be drafted to a team with an aging QB where he could learn the ropes and be molded into an NFL starter. This idea was scrapped when he was drafted to the Philadelphia Eagles to back up Carson Wentz. Luckily for Hurts and the people who drafted him, Wentz struggled mightily in 2020 and was benched for the aforementioned Oklahoma Sooner. Hurts completed 77 of 148 passes for 1061yds and 6 TDs to go against 4 INT. He also added 63 rushes for 357 yards and three more scores.
Hurts’ future value is hard to gauge with the hiring of new Head Coach Nick Sirianni. He could be relegated to situational gadgets plays, or he could be the full-time starter. This risk is why I have him so late in this draft. If Hurts manages to win the starting job, I expect him to be a Top-12 QB weekly, purely because of his rushing floor. Outside of Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray, Hurts is as successful of a running QB as we have in this league. Hurts is currently my dynasty QB15 and would move up a couple of spots if he wins the starting job outright or if Wentz is traded. Hurts should be a fascinating piece for fantasy the next couple of years.
This 2020 class was a fun study and I expect big things from them in the near future. They will go down as one of the best fantasy draft classes ever. With that being said, the 2020 Dynasty Rookie Draft “Redo” is complete! Thanks for taking the time to read it!
