Week 9 Draftkings Thursday Night Showdown Preview

We get an interesting matchup to kick off Week 9 between the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts. The Colts lost a close one to the Titans in overtime last week. The New York Jets are coming off a surprise win against the Bengals as double digit underdogs. They rode their Superstar QB and 2nd overall pick to 405 passing yards and 3 TDs. Wait… that wasn’t Zach Wilson??? It was a 4 year backup out of Western Kentucky??? Ok well obviously he had the teams top free agent acquisition to throw to. No??? No Corey Davis??? Ok you get the point, Mike White stole the show last week and it’s hard to tell if it’s a flash in the pan or if he’ll continue his success. Only time will tell but I’m willing to ride with him for this game.

We’ll have a better idea of who to target if Corey Davis misses this game. I’m likely going to be heavy on Taylor at captain with White and Jets pass catchers as bring backs. The Colts are double digit favorites and it’s clear the Jets have no problem letting White sling it. The Colts have been very good defending the run so I see no reason why he won’t top 35 pass attempts.

Injuries to Monitor

Corey Davis missed Week 8 with a hip injury and is doubtful to play Thursday.

Tevin Coleman has missed the last two weeks with a hamstring injury. He has not been practicing and is out for this game.

TY Hilton is in concussion protocol and has already been ruled out for this game.

Captain/Flex

Jonathan Taylor
$17,400/$11,600

Taylor has been great, over the last five games he’s averaged 18.4 touches for 134.6 yards. He’s scored seven times over that span. The Jets have given up 12 rushing TDs which is 2nd most in the league. In the three games leading up to last week, the Jets had given up an average of 144 rushing yards.

Michael Pittman
$15,300/$10,200

Pittman has put up back to back solid games. He followed up Week 7’s 100 yard performance with 10 catches for 86 yards and two TDs on 15 targets in Week 8. The Jets have allowed six receiving TDs in their last two games.

Mike White
$14,700/$9,800

405 yards and three TDs in his first career start. The Jets are not shying away from showcasing White. He’s thrown 77 passes over the last two games. The Colts have given up the 3rd highest completion percentage and are bottom 10 in yards per attempt.

Michael Carter
$12,900/$8,600

Fantasy football

Carter is reaping the rewards of the Mike White experience. He’s had 23 targets, 17 receptions and 276 total yards in the last two weeks. He’s basically discount D’Andre Swift at this point.

The Rest

Jamison Crowder
$7,800

Crowder had nine targets, eight catches for 84 yards last week. He had six targets the previous week. Crowder’s route running ability and the fact that he’s used closer to the line of scrimmage make him the perfect fit for what White seems to want to do which is get the ball out quick to the open guy.

Zach Pascal $6,600

Pascal has been a bit disappointing since Week 2. He hasn’t had double digit DraftKings points since then. He did however have eight targets last week and has eight receptions over the last two games.

Ty Johnson $6,400

Like Carter, Ty has benefited greatly with White under center. He has 13 targets, 11 catches and 157 total yards. He also scored a 19 yard TD last week.

Elijah Moore $6,200

Moore had career highs with 6 catches and 67 yards last week. He is very good with the ball in his hands and the Jets will look to get him the ball more as the season goes on. He’s also been used in the running game which is an added bonus for a player with his skillset.

IND Def $5,000

Let’s be serious here, as impressive as last week was, it’s still the Jets. Indy could just destroy them. The Colts have had at least two interceptions and two sacks in each of the last two games. White has thrown two picks in each of the last two games.

Mo Allie Cox $5,200
Jack Doyle $4,600

Just taking a shot on a TD with these two. Last week it was Doyle who scored, the previous two weeks Mo Allie scored. Mo Allie has seen more targets but Doyle is on the field about 10-15% more.

Tyler Kroft $4,000

Basically the same as the Colts TEs, we’re banking on a TD here. Kroft did score last week and will operate as the top TE now two weeks removed from his injury.

Ashton Dulin $200

With Hilton ruled out, Dulin will get some run and at min price is worth a salary saving sprinkle in lineups. He did receive four targets last week.
