Week 7 Adds, Drops, Buys, and Sells

What a week! Week 6 was exhilarating but the turnaround is quick. Waivers are running and we have championship rosters to build. With that in mind, here are the adds, drops, buys, and sells to consider making in Week 7.

Add Dan Bellinger

Dan Bellinger had flashed in the early weeks of his rookie season. Then he played a season-high 94-percent of the snaps in Week 6. He reached another  season-high with a 19-percent target share. He turned that into five receptions (on five targets) for 38 yards and a touchdown. Bellinger has now had a double-digit target share in four-straight games. He is a big, athletic guy—exactly the type we look for in breakout tight ends. The Giants are desperate for someone to emerge as a reliable weapon in the passing game. They may have found that in their rookie tight end.

Add Wan’Dale Robinson

Sticking to the topic of the Giants looking for some pass catchers to emerge, rookie second round wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson made his debut in Week 6. He didn’t play a whole lot—just a 23-percent snap share and a 34-percent route participation rate—but he flashed the play-making ability the Giants drafted him for. He finished the day with three receptions (on four targets) for 37 yards and a score. We should anticipate his playing time to increase significantly over the next few weeks. He has a good shot at becoming the team’s No.1 option in the passing game and the guy everyone wanted Kadarius Toney to be.

Sell Brian Robinson

Everyone’s excited about Brian Robinson. He was hyped up in preseason and he’s a great story. Then he comes out and gets a bunch of carries and falls into the end zone after being announced as “the starter.” That’s great, but in reality, Robinson was in a three-headed backfield committee. He played 47-percent of the snaps while JD McKissic played 30-percent and Antonio Gibson 26-percent. Robinson was not involved in the passing whatsoever while Gibson and McKissic combined for a 32-percent target share. Robinson is in a grinder back role in a full-blown committee on an already bad offense that is now without its starting quarterback for six weeks. Sell, sell, sell.

Add Robert Tonyan

The theme here is teams in desperate need of someone to become a consistent target. That rolls us right into Robert Tonyan who’s playing time has steadily increased over the last few weeks as he works his way back from last year’s ACL injury. Tonyan was up to a season-high 63-percent snap share in Week 6. He saw a 27-percent share of Aaron Rodgers’ targets which led the team and was good enough for third highest rate among all tight ends for the week. Tonyan turned his 12 targets into 10 receptions for 90 yards. He was already someone to pick up off the waiver wire coming into the week, but now he’s must get.

Buy Amari Cooper

Amari Cooper has four games with 10 or more targets on the season. He’s top-10 in targets per route and top-5 among wide receivers in air yards share, total touchdowns, and dominator rating (PlayerProfiler). He’s getting a lot of red zone looks, too. If you trade for him now, he’s going to give you top-24 production for the next several weeks. But then, Deshaun Watson makes his return which could fully unlock Cooper’s ceiling just in time for the fantasy playoffs.

Week 1 targets

Add Tyquan Thornton

Tyquan Thornton played 42-percent of the snaps and had a modest 14-percent target share in his Week 5 NFL debut. He improved upon that in Week 6, playing 57-percent of the snaps, running a route on 72.2-percent of Bailey Zappe’s drop backs, and commanding a 15-percent target share. He finished the day with four receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown. He also had three rushes for 16 yards and another score. Now, there’s talk that the Patriots are getting calls from teams about trading for wide receivers Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor. If either of those guys leave town, it will open up more opportunities for the second-round rookie.

Sell Darrell Henderson

Darrell Henderson fell into a bellcow job with the news that Cam Akers and the team have had a falling out. However, Sean McVay has made it clear time and time again that he does not like Henderson in that big of a role. I anticipate the Rams will be adding another running back or two to split the work with Henderson. Even in Week 6, Henderson played 71-percent of the snaps while sharing some work with a dusty Malcolm Brown and a guy nobody has ever heard of (Ronnie Rivers). Someone is going to join this backfield via trade or free agent signing. There’s also the lingering return of rookie Kyren Williams. If someone in your league thinks Henderson is “the guy” for the rest of the season, flip him for RB2 value.

Add Greg Dulcich

How about that NFL debut for Greg Dulcich? The rookie made an immediate impact, catching two of his three targets for 44 yards and a score. His playing time is likely to go up from here and his role will grow with it.
