Mario’s Hot & Not Fantasy Rundown: Week 10
Baltimore Ravens @ Miami Dolphins
Hot: Mark Andrews
Andrews continued his steady role as one of the top fantasy TEs in the game. His 6 catches for 63 yards and the Ravens’ lone TD put him at TE3 on the week with 18.3 fantasy points. Next week he faces a tough test on the road in Chicago, but he is still a must start in all formats.
Not: Mike Gesicki
On the other side of this game, Gesicki received a team-high 7 targets, but unfortunately did not turn into any points at all. After scoring at least 9.4 fantasy points each of the last 4 games, this goose egg is puzzling. However, he remains a must start because of his usage.
Atlanta Falcons @ Dallas Cowboys
Hot: CeeDee Lamb
Lamb led Dallas in receiving yards with 94. Add in 6 catches and 2 TDs, and his fantasy output was 28.6pts, good enough for WR3 on the week. The crazy part is, all of this production came in the 1st half! Lamb did not catch a pass in the 2nd half of the 40 point blowout. Next week he sees a bad Chiefs pass defense, and is a must start in a potential shootout.
Not: Cordarelle Patterson
Patterson entered Week 10 as the NFC leader in all-purpose yards. Usually when those stats get thrown around by the media, duds are coming up. Patterson was stifled by the Dallas defense for only 39 yards on the day. Then he proceeded to add injury to insult. An ankle injury will most likely keep him out of Thursday night’s game vs New England. Should he play, start him only if desperate.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts
Hot: Jonathan Taylor
Taylor continued his hot streak with 126 total yards and a TD for 24.6 fantasy points, and RB5 on the week. Taylor only had 10 yards receiving, but he did that on 6 receptions. Next up is a tough road matchup vs Buffalo, who gives up the least points to RBs in 2021.
Not: Carson Wentz
Wentz did not impress after a high percentage of fantasy teams used him as a streamer against the lowly Jags D. Wentz finished as the week’s QB24 with a paltry 7.1 fantasy points. He finished behind part-time starters like Cam Newton, Joe Flacco, Tua Tagovailoa, and Brian Hoyer. Next week is a road game at Buffalo. Avoid Wentz at all costs.
Cleveland Browns @ New England Patriots
Hot: Rhamondre Stevenson
Most of us wrote off Stevenson a few weeks ago after Belichick named him a healthy scratch. Well he came back in a big way playing in place of an injured Damien Harris. Stevenson exploded for 100 yards rushing and 2 TDs, also chipping in 4 receptions for 14 yards. The rookie’s 27.4 fantasy points earned him RB2 honors in Week 10, and also earned him more touches moving forward. Stevenson should start, even in the return of Harris.
Not: Donovan Peoples-Jones
It was a terrible day all around for the Browns offense, many of us were counting on Peoples-Jones to step into a larger role with the departure of OBJ to the Rams. DPJ was targeted 5 times, but only hauled in 1 of those passes for 16 yards, netting him only 2.6 fantasy points. Keep DPJ on your bench, but don’t start him until the Browns offense shows signs of life.
Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets
Hot: Stefon Diggs
It appears that 2020 Stefon Diggs has entered the chat. Diggs scored his biggest fantasy output of the season vs the lowly Jets. His 30.2 fantasy points were good enough to be ranked WR3 in Week 10. Next up is a Colts defense that is stout up front, but soft in the secondary. Diggs could be up for another big day.
Not: Emmanuel Sanders
We can blame another dud on the success of Diggs, but even Gabriel Davis got into the action with 105 yards on 3 receptions. Sanders served as the 4th option for Josh Allen, catching only 2 passes for 27 yards. This is the second week in a row with minimal impact. Sanders remains a low end WR2 with high end WR2 potential based on the matchup.
Detroit Lions @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Hot: D’Andre Swift
With Jamaal Williams a late scratch, Swift was thrust into the RB role with little relief from the bench. He rose to the challenge, and gained a tough 135 total yards on 38 touches for 16.5 fantasy points. Swift’s day could have been better if not for 2 long TD runs by little known Detroit RBs Godwin Igwebuike and Jermar Jefferson. Swift is a lock next week vs Cleveland, regardless of Jamaal Williams’ status.
Not: TJ Hockenson
The TE landscape is bare enough, so we don’t need safe floor fantasy TEs putting up goose eggs. Hockenson joins Gesicki as the 2 TEs this week rostered in over 80% of leagues that failed to score a single point.
New Orleans Saints @ Tennessee Titans
Hot: Mark Ingram
Ingram stepped up for New Orleans in the absence of do-it-all back Alvin Kamara. He totaled 108 yards and a TD on just 18 touches, and his timely plays helped keep New Orleans in the game up until the end. Should Kamara miss more time with the sprained MCL, Ingram is a must start.
Not: AJ Brown
Brown was supposed to get more touches and production with Henry out for the foreseeable future. 1 catch for 16 yards is not more touches and production. Let’s see this as a Lattimore shutdown game, and you’re still starting AJ next week vs a bad Houston team.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Washington Football Team
Hot: Antonio Gibson
Gibson did not have an outstanding day, but it still stuck out as he carried the ball 24 times, a career high. He only averaged 2.7 yards per carry vs a stout Tampa front, but he found the endzone twice, including the game winner on 4th down late in the 4th quarter. As bad as he has played in recent weeks, his 21.8 fantasy points are a welcome sight.
Not: Tom Brady
Brady was undoubtedly started by anyone who rosters him, and he was also a popular DFS play. The WFT defense has been historically bad, and fantasy players were expecting a patented 350 yard and 4TD game. Instead, Brady did not finish in the top 12, and his 17.0 fantasy points were his lowest since Week 4 at New England. Regardless, fire up Brady next week on Monday night vs the Giants.
Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals
Hot: Christian McCaffrey
Oh, CMC, how we’ve missed you. The consensus fantasy RB1 when healthy, McCaffrey reminded us all in Arizona just what he can do when not hampered by injury. CMC led the Panthers in touches, rushing yards, receptions, and receiving yards in the Panthers blowout win. Although he didn’t find the endzone, CMC still put up RB4 numbers with 26.1 fantasy points.
Not: AJ Green
With Hopkins out with injury yet again, Green was in line for many more touches than usual, but the game just didn’t go the Cardinals’ way at all. Green caught 1 pass for 4 yards, and had zero impact on the game after that. He gets a chance to redeem himself next week vs Seattle.
Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Chargers
Hot: Justin Jefferson
Jefferson hauled in 9 catches for 143 yards on 11 targets. JJ didn’t find paydirt, but still posted 22.9 fantasy points good enough for WR6 on the week. Next week the Vikings have a home tilt vs Green Bay in a possible shootout.
Not: Mike Williams
Many hailed this game as a bounce back game for Williams vs a vulnerable Vikings secondary. Instead, we were tricked into his 5th single digit score in the last 6 games. Williams still needs to be rostered, but bench him until he proves worthy of your starting lineup again.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Denver Broncos
Hot: Jalen Hurts
After a down week last week, Hurts was back to his playmaking ways vs Denver. The Broncos stymied Prescott and the Cowboys last week, and most expected the same or worse for Hurts and the Eagles, but they responded well enough for a 17 point win. Hurts finished as QB7 on the week with 22.42 fantasy points, and has another good matchup next week vs the Saints.
Not: Courtland Sutton
Since the return of Jerry Jeudy, Sutton has been severely underwhelming. This week, he managed only 29 yards on 2 receptions. Sutton can revert to your bench until he separates himself from Jeudy and Patrick once again.
Seattle Seahawks @ Green Bay Packers
Hot: AJ Dillon
AJ Dillon is the hottest waiver wire pickup of Week 11, and for good measure. Jones went down early with what we now know is a sprained MCL, and Dillon stepped right into his role. 23 touches for 128 yards and 2 TDs later, Dillon finished with a career high 26.8 fantasy points, and an RB3 finish. He is a must start as long as Jones is out with injury.
Not: Russell Wilson
So, I guess we got our answer to the question being asked about Russ’s finger affecting his play at all. The Seahawks were shut out for the first time in the Russ era, and he just did not look right at all, finishing with 5.64 fantasy points. It would be difficult to start Russ, no matter the matchup until he shows he can throw the ball effectively.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Las Vegas Raiders
Hot: Patrick Mahomes
Welcome back, Mr. Mahomes. After 3 straight games of under 20 points, Mahomes exploded in Vegas for 47.24 points on 406 yards passing and 5 TDs. Even superstars go through droughts, and it’s safe to say Mahomes will continue to produce moving forward.
Not: Darren Waller
Where is the Darren Waller we all drafted in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of drafts? This impostor cannot possibly be him. We expected more than 6.4 pts in a plus matchup vs the Chiefs. Since his 26.4 point explosion in Week 1, Waller has surpassed 12 points only twice. He’s supposed to be a top 3 TE, but he has disappointed.
Los Angeles Rams @ San Francisco 49ers
Hot: Deebo Samuel
Nobody expected the offensive drubbing issued by the 49ers, but fantasy players rejoice. Samuel continued his stellar play with 30.3 points and fantasy WR1 finish for the week. The 3rd year pro caught 5 passes for 97 yards and a TD, and also rushed 5 times for 36 yards and another TD. Can we get him RB eligibility across all platforms, please?
Not: Darrell Henderson
It was a bad night offensively for the entire Rams team. Henderson was a good play, in theory, but was only able to muster 8.1 fantasy points. He exited the game early and was evaluated for a concussion, but was eventually cleared. It’s possible that had an effect on his play.
