Mario’s Fantasy Rundown: Week 13

As we approach the fantasy playoffs, I will pivot my usual Hot & Not column to solely HOT players at each position, and their outlook in the weeks to come. Aside from fantasy draft day, the fantasy playoffs and the weeks leading up to it are the most exciting time of the fantasy season. From here until the end of the season, my column will feature the top scorer from each position, and whether or not you can count on them the following week.

QB Tom Brady

Brady continues to defy nature and logic by putting up fantasy numbers expected from a 24 year old, not a 44 year old. Tom Terrific’s latest victim was the Atlanta Falcons. With the Falcons seemingly committed to stopping Fournette and the run game, Brady flipped the script, throwing the football 51 times, and with great success. The 21 year vet completed 38 passes for 368 yards and 4 TDs, compiling 36.6 fantasy points along the way. The Falcons had no answer for Brady, as he continues his dominance, both in the real world, and in fantasy.

RB Javonte Williams

Rookie RB Javonte Williams did not waste the first opportunity of his young career to be the lead back. With Melvin Gordon out with injury, Williams got 29 touches for 178 yards and a TD, totaling 29.8 fantasy points. The Broncos had a rather pedestrian offensive performance, so Williams’ production is that much more impressive. His combination of speed, power, and balance jumped off of the screen as he ran through the Chiefs defense. Gordon is slated to be back this week. Williams has earned more than a 50/50 split that we’ve seen so far this season, but temper your expectations.

WR Justin Jefferson

The 2nd year WR set season highs for receptions, yards, and targets as he bullied the Lions secondary up and down the field. Jefferson’s 2nd highest fantasy total of the season (35.6 pts) was not enough to secure the Vikings victory, but wins and losses don’t matter in fantasy. 11 receptions, 182 yards, and a TD will be difficult for Jefferson to top, but with Thielen suffering a high ankle sprain, Cousins will likely force feed Jefferson the rest of the season.

TE George Kittle

Kittle waited until Week 13 to have his best game of the season, and pay off the TE3 draft ADP that most fantasy players invested in him at the beginning of the season. Kittle caught 9 passes for 181 yards and 2 TDs for 39.6 fantasy points. It was Kittle’s first multi-TD game of his career, as improbable as that sounds. It appears the absence of Deebo Samuel was beneficial to Kittle and no one else on the 49ers offense. Maybe this is the spark he needs to finish the season strong.
