Bio
Jayden Reed grew up in Aurora, Illinois where he attended Metea Valley High School. He caught 23 passes for 403 yards and four touchdowns during his junior season before moving to a new school for his senior year. Reed put on a show for his new teammates at Naperville Central High School with 1,179 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. With that performance , Reed was named team MVP, first-team All-State, USA Today All-Illinois, and All-Conference. He went on to Western Michigan as a three-star recruit in 2018. There, he excelled with four 100-yard outings and a total of 56 receptions for 797 yards and eight touchdowns. He also returned a punt 93 yards to the house.
After just one season with the Broncos, Reed moved on to Michigan State where he redshirted the 2019 season. Returning to the field in 2020, Reed became the first in Michigan State history to go for 100 yards in his debut. He went on to finish the COVID-shortened seven-game season with 34 receptions for 407 yards and three touchdowns. His contributions as a kick returner helped him lead the team in all-purpose yards. With his former high school teammate now quarterbacking the Spartans, Reed had his best season in 2021. In 13 games, he caught 59 passes for 1,026 yards and 10 touchdowns. He continued to thrive in the return game as well, taking back two punts for scores.
After opting to return for his redshirt senior season, Reed’s production dipped a bit in 2022. In 11 games, he caught 55 balls for 636 yards and five touchdowns. His yards per reception dropped from 17.4 in 2021 to 11.6 in 2022.

Highlight Reel
Archetype: Slot WR
Best Comparable Player: Emmanuel Sanders
Draft Projection: Third Round
Bottom Line:
Jayden Reed is a versatile athlete who uses his quickness and impressive body control to make plays as a receiver, a rusher, and a kick returner. He’s on the lighter side so he does struggle vs some of the more physical defenders, but that hasn’t stopped him from consistently winning along the boundary. With that said, he will take the majority of his NFL snaps from the slot, where he can maximize his skill set, both before and after the catch. Reed is ready to make an immediate impact for whichever team calls his name on draft weekend as a contributor on offense and in the return game. That will likely happen sometime in the third round. His rookie draft ADP will fall somewhere around the two/three turn in single quarterback leagues.
