Thursday Night Football brings us an interesting matchup between the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys, two teams that don’t have much to play for in week 17. The Titans, losers of five straight games, have been eliminated from wild card contention and will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 18 for the AFC South crown regardless of the teams’ outcomes this weekend. The Cowboys have all but clinched the first wild card slot barring an epic collapse from the Eagles, who need to win one game versus the Saints or Giants to clinch the NFC East title. So how do we set our DFS lineups Thursday night to give us the best chance to win some cash? Load up on Cowboys.
Showdown Captain: Dak Prescott
Dak and the Cowboys have an opportunity to get back on track Thursday against one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. The Titans have allowed 300+ yards to quarterbacks in three of their last four games, surrendering 7 touchdowns in that span. They just allowed Trevor Lawrence and Jalen Hurts to score 33 and 34 fantasy points, respectively. Dak has been turning the ball over frequently, so I expect the Cowboys to exploit this matchup to right the ship. Even with the turnovers, Dak has been a solid fantasy option, throwing three touchdowns in three of his last four games and throwing more than 30 passes in each of his last five games.
Flex Option: CeeDee Lamb
Lamb is Dak’s favorite target, and he has been peppering him lately, as CeeDee has seen at least six targets in four straight games. He has scored 19 or more fantasy points in three of those and has more than 120 yards in each of his last two games. The Titans have struggled mightily against their opponents’ WR1, giving up 20 catches on 30 targets for 197 yards and two touchdowns to them over their last three games (Brandin Cooks, Keenan Allen, Zay Jones).
Flex Option: Robert Woods
One pass catcher on this Titan offense is going to have to step up, and Robert Woods has a great chance to do so. With potential for Diggs to get locked up with Treylon Burks, Woods can capitalize on a beatable Cowboy secondary. He has seen 4+ targets in seven straight games and the Cowboys have surrendered 18 catches and three touchdowns to their opponents’ WR2 over the last three games.
Flex Option: Cowboys D
For the Titans, Derrick Henry was listed as a limited participant at Tuesday’s practice after sitting out Monday with a hip injury. With Malik Willis at quarterback and a banged-up Henry, the Titans may struggle to move the ball against one of the best defensive units in football. The Cowboys can be exposed through the air, but with Willis under center there is not much of a threat there. The run defense is solid already, and on top of that the Titans may take it easy with Henry and make sure he is full health for week 18 versus the Jaguars. The Cowboys have forced 14 turnovers over their last four games, and the Titans have turned the ball over eight times over their last three games, leaving potential for a lot of points and touchdown opportunities for the Cowboys defense.
Value Play: Dalton Schultz
While wide receivers have found great success against the Titans, tight ends tend to fair well against this secondary, as well. The tight end position has scored 10+ fantasy points in their last five games against Tennessee and have accumulated 34 targets and 325 yards over their last three. Schultz is another favorite target of Prescott’s, seeing 4+ targets in each of his last nine games. The opportunities for Schultz should be there for a big game.
Fade: Tony Pollard
Pollard is considered one of the Cowboys most dangerous playmakers, scoring 14+ fantasy points in 7/8 games. While that is enticing, Pollard is coming into the game nursing a thigh injury and was listed as a DNP in the first two practice of the week. A stated previously, the Cowboys are basically locked into their spot in the playoffs. If Pollard does play, it would be a huge risk to give him his full workload. Even if he is a go, the Titan run defense is very stingy, having not allowed more than 90 rushing yards to running backs in any game since week 1. Pollard is a dangerous play for the cash value he comes in at.
