Pre-Training Camp 2022 NFL Prop Bets

Hey everyone! I’m Zach but you can just call me Schu1tzy. Over the last few years I’ve been able to put my love of the NFL to use because of DFS/betting. It has been a blast. I have been able to make a few nice withdrawals but overall keeping a steady bankroll is the name of the game. Playing DFS and betting on sports brings so much fun and entertainment to me between researching, lineup building, and most importantly watching sports! Over here at Yards Per Fantasy we have teamed up with BetUS sportsbook and I’m super pumped to utilize this resource for weekly NFL Betting. I will be doing a handful of betting related articles this season. Today we’re starting with some early player props. I love season long bets because it gives you some juice in the game to always cheer for.

I always find it important to scan the books before training camp opens up. The lines the books put out early can be super risky because we have no true camp insights yet. With that said, they can also be taken advantage of. As camp news and hype comes out a lot of these lines are going to move whether it is because someone has impressed in camp/preseason or there was an injury. There are still a lot of unknowns here but I’m willing to try and piece together some puzzles to take advantage of these books. I went ahead and took a look through the player props at BetUS and I found five player props I feel really strongly about based on what we already know and what we feel comfortable projecting. Let’s dive in.

Cole Kmet o3.5 rec TDs +110

When I first saw this line I honestly had to double take. Without doing any research on Kmet I already felt like this was an easy smash. No more Jimmy Graham? Sign me up. I love Fields’s upside as a QB but the Bears likely still won’t be great this year. That equals a lot of garbage time. I honestly don’t think I need to look too deeply into this one as Jimmy Graham caught eleven touchdowns over the last two years as the Bears top tight end. Behind Mooney the Bears don’t really have many other options. Kmet already had 13 red zone target last season and he is physically the biggest target on this offense.

Christian Kirk o850.5 rec yards -105

Christian Kirk heads to Jacksonville after the Jags gave him the largest wide receiver deal in NFL history (that’s what twitter told me anyways). Over his time in Arizona Kirk never got the chance to be THE guy thanks to crowded receiving rooms with guys you may have heard of before like Larry Fitzgerald and Deandre Hopkins. Well here’s his chance. The Jaguars paid him to be their guy for Trevor Lawrence and I have zero doubts that if healthy he wins this prop easily. Trevor has already talked about how “QB friendly” Kirk is and I think he leans on Kirk a lot this year. Look, we all know what happened with Urban Meyer. We don’t need to swipe through that again (see what I did there) but despite last year’s shit show Trevor Lawrence still put a ton of things on tape that many veterans in the league can’t do. I’m buying Trevor’s generational talent here more than I am Christian Kirk in that I think his main target tops 850 yards. Last season Marvin Jones had 832 receiving yards as Trevor’s number one guy. Give me the talent upgrade at receiver combined with the expected leap from Lawrence.

Bet it Now!

Jahan Dotson 0575.5 rec yards -115

I’m not the biggest college football fan but over the last few years I’ve learned to really enjoy it from an NFL prospect and betting perspective. I happened to watch a handful of Penn State games this year since I live in Big Ten Country and I always came away impressed with Dotson. I remember watching a game early in the season and while taking a few notes all I had to write down about him was YAC/catch radius. Unfortunately for me I was not able to gain any shares of him in dynasty but thanks to betting I get to pick who I want! I want some sort of share of his and this one here seems like a good spot. Six hundred yards for a rooke is an extremely reasonable expectation. Dotson finds himself in a starting role instantly only behind Terry McLaurin. Dotson’s YAC skills should come in handy big time for Wentz. Once again, we have a team who is likely to be in the bottom half of the league so some garbage time is expected here. A nice combination of opportunity and talent leaves me to believe this is a home run bet.

Bet it Now!

Mike Evans o1050.5 rec yards -115

Mike Evans has had at least 1000 yards every season of his eight year career. Three of those he failed to his this prop. First of all the odds are already good for you here. Second of all, Chris Godwin is still recovering from his ACL tear. Oh yeah, some guy named Tim Brody came out of retirement so yeah moving on.

Travis Etienne o1075.5 rush+rec yards -115

Look, call me a Jags homer here but this line is insane. I had no intentions of putting two Jaguars on this list but I can’t get over this line. From all reports Etienne’s foot is fully good to go. Behind him they have James Robinson coming off the dreaded achilles tear in December, Snoop Connor who clearly seems like a Robinson replacement, and Ryquell Arsmtead. If you had to look up either of those last two guys don’t feel bad. That is kind of my point here. Now I sneakily like Connor in best ball and dynasty as a late pick but let’s be real here, Etienne is that dude. He had one of the most prolific college careers we have seen from a running back and because Urban Meyer picked him in the first round and he got hurt we have completely forgotten about all of that. I am super excited to see his talent on display. This piggy backs off my Kirk take in that I am all in on Lawrence’s generational talent and potential. There should be plenty of room for Etienne to eat on the ground and through the air. This line seems criminally low.

I will be tracking my bets this year as I go. Season long bets I like to put 5 units on each bet. So far I have 25 units spent. Stay tuned!
